Just buggy hit detection makes it literally and figuratively hit or miss.
yup. that'll be fixed tho, along with many of the other irrelevant things people complain about.
Seriously 90% of the "imbalances" and problems people complain about are things that will be naturally fixed with improvement in the builds or with the inclusion of new assets.

i love when people **** on knives before actually looking at the skills and numbers....they know no weapon will be good without skilling and modding up but somehow they dont put knives into the same equation.
knives are badass. when modded and specced....they are freaking swords |

I don't think CCP ever brought up swords. Last time I checked, almost everyone here despised swords but somehow felt ok with a knife.
no one knows, obviously CCP will put new things into the game over time. If the melee skills were meant to only be used with a knife they would be called knife skills instead of melee skills |

Link to where the melee-specific changes (press, not release and widening target area) have been mentioned? I've seen confirmation of the hit detection issue, but not the knife-specific ones.

Last time I checked, almost everyone here despised swords but somehow felt ok with a knife. i think the melee attack should be a slap across the face at lv. 1, punch at lv. 2, punch that sends those killed by it flying into walls at lv 3, kick at lv. 4, knife stab at lv 5, knife slash at prof. 1, two knives (but only a itty bitty damage increase) at prof. 2, sword at prof 3, lance at prof 4, and a bigass OHK sledgehammer that materializes out of nowhere at prof. 5.
