Seems like as soon as somebody has something negative to say about the mechanics of DUST, they immediately get jumped by others telling them to "stop trying to make it like CoD," or to "go back to CoD." First, some people are legitimately just trying to help improve DUST. Second, assuming stuff about other people's judgement or relative skill level- based on a personal opinion of another game- just isn't cool, ya know?

I personally hate CoD. So it is quite frustrating to hear this said. Some evetrolls have it in there mind that all console player are CoD fanboys and its just not true. I hate casual games that cater to noobs and I am saddened by the current state of fps. |

Ahem...
The orgins of this... demeanor of lesser intellectuals players and the extremly generous fair warning originated in eve online. The nature of it there was "Go Back to WoW" a game which for the most part is very oh so more simpler than Eve Online.
It however as seemed that this additude has bleed into dust 514 and the game of simpler concqences would be unfourunately Call of Duty.

Agreed. While there is really nothing wrong with CoD it is a much simpler game since it's an arcade game not a combat simulation like Dust. I play CoD when I want a mindless combat day, usually when the Dust server is down . Eve players just like complexity. |

I do and I'll tell you that you can tell who are in Dust as they care more about their kd/r then the objectives. Ticks me off when playing objective based games in CoD when you see your teammates running away from the objective looking for a kill. |

What I would like to see if the irate people whom seem to circle-jerk one another on here, and stop acting like fools. Especially the same small group of people who call us -- "fanboys" -- when we act civil, and are more patient. Just because, they want to scream, cry, and act like a spoiled brat does not make us "fanboys". They use the word a lot, but honestly I feel they do not know what it means. They just cry as loud as possible, and spout what ever negativity they can at every moment they can. That is really petty if not more childish. Riling the people up and vexing them is not the way to go about helping the game or the community.
On a bigger picture though? Both sides need to stop antagonizing, and encouraging one another in being brazen. Usually the forums are nothing, but a negative thread soon followed by another thread that only complains about another thread, and this just goes on and on, and on.. Yesterday was horrible. I dubbed it -- "Day of The Trolling" -- and hopefully we'll never see a sequel. Someone childishly even went out of there way to make a fake account and attempt to impersonate me on here. Seriously though? Both sides need to stop it, and in all honesty -- we all should just realize we want the best for Dust. Just some need to stop barking, crying, yelling, and screaming like brats. Being a negative nancy will not get you what you want.
Can we all just move on? Really?!
Ps. I'm willing to bet money that if CCP would give us some word, or form of docmentation on what is going on, what to expect, or even some words as to what will not happen then the tension on here would drop dramatically. Not everyone will be happy. That is a given. You cannot please everyone and not everyone is pleasable. Some are just out to be a cynic, or pessimist. I just want the GM (General Managment) to talk to the DEV (Developers) and speak with us.. The silence is becoming really harmful and is starting to hinder the game I feel.
I know a lot of people on here are feeling ignored when it comes to the amount of input we as community have provided. Again just post up something that we can read, and will let us know what is going on. I could even understand if they just said we're unable to speak on anything due to corporate policy, or issues.
SImply put? Lack of communication all around here on the forums, and in the community. From all sides. |

I do not doubt that actually, Proto. Not at all. I've seen worse too. I've seen SOCOM forums, Warhawk, MAG, and a number of other forums and community just degenerate into a vile viscous bile of rot. Some of the worst though have to be World of Warcraft and Call of Duty forums.

LOL i say go back to COD sometimes as a sybological way of saying, go play something dumber, Dust is supposed to be a complex game. Noobtastic mechanics dont work here.
BUT MOSTLY i say it cause at that point ive had ....a few.... beers and im in an antagonizing mood.
Im all for people to come to dust and enjoy the game. Its just important to understand that CCP has a vision fo this game that unfortunately for some doesnt seem to fit their tastes. They dont NEED to do this or that, plenty of people will play anyway cause it will be a complex, ever changing game in a VERY stagnant video game climate. |

Mag, while it had amazing/smooth game play. Sucked ass at the mmo part. No market, no trading, no clan battles. It had very little aim assist and a good amount of health so it took a good amount of skill to be good at. Not like CoD where you sneeze on someone and they are dead.
Now I feel that dust might have the same cult following because the fps part of the game comes up short while the mmo aspect is almost perfect. It will have a cult following either way.
Please before you start trolling me about the fps part coming up short. Its my opinion and I have high hopes so i'm not to worried about it. I just needed to vent. |

unfortunately, i wasnt blessed with enough foresight to be able to play MAG...probably the onle game in the history of the world that i havent played
ill elaborate on the COD part...its not that it falls short, cause COD is successful, its just stagnant and the innovation is long gone. What i was saying is the mechanics are arcade mechanics, which im sure you understand what that means. Dust is more complex than that and requires a different set of game mechanics in order for the cogs to keep turning.
The biggest difference is that in COD, good twitch skillz can give a great chance of getting the win. In this game, not so much since some guy sitting pretty on his comp can nuke you from above or simply just throw money at the other team to deliberately stop you from winning. Its also their right to do that if they are that willing to keep or take resources.
I recently found out a little bit more about ya crimson so i know your not stupid, hopefully that goes both ways?
edit: And yes, i agree that Dust will always have a cult following, but it will be substantially more than some other games like MAG since Dust is tied into a game the needs mercs to keep doing their bidding. I prefer to see all these clever things that CCP is doing as failsafes put in place to really guarantee the success and longevity of Dust. |

This might be a little off topic but meh.
As far as the mechanics go. Dust is high health strafe and shoot fps. The strafe speed is really low and the health is really high.. (unless you are a scout.) This doesn't sit well with me. Health and strafe speed needs to be tweaked so the gun fights are a little bit smoother and gun game takes more skill. I'm not saying I want the health lowered. That would be a bad thing. I would like to see the strafe speed raised a little bit so that the game play runs smoother with how much health you have.
A lot of my gun fights turn into me aiming down sight holding R1 and getting a kill. If I strafe to much it just takes the sight off the enemy allowing the target to hit me if he has good gun game. (of course you have to strafe in cqc.
While dust itself might be deep and complex. The gun mechanics are not. Make this into a real strafe and shoot fps. What we are playing now just feels so bulky.

What we are playing now just feels so bulky. lol offtopic ftw.
Last build you could literally have a 2 minuet gun fight with a dude and empty out everything and proceed to have a knife fight and it was amazing. |

Makes me lose a couple sometimes. unfortunately, i wasnt blessed with enough foresight to be able to play MAG...probably the onle game in the history of the world that i havent played ill elaborate on the COD part...its not that it falls short, cause COD is successful, its just stagnant and the innovation is long gone. I can tell you are an intelligent person. Yeah other then hit detection last builds gun fights were pretty intense. This build promotes corner camping and cheap tactics tbh. |

Yesterday was nothing in comparison to the classic threads of the past.
Which is nothing in comparison to the MAG forums of always.
I really hope this forum doesn't go down that path.

Some people here actually need to go play CoD and see what a shooter is like other than DUST. |

I honestly don't understand all of the hate for COD. Get a good group of friends together and it's fun for hours. Some of the things said in the lobbies before and after matches are classic. |

First, some people are legitimately just trying to help improve DUST. Second, assuming stuff about other people's judgement or relative skill level- based on a personal opinion of another game- just isn't cool, ya know?
tl;dr- CoD comments aren't beta feedback

The only two Call of Duty titles worth mentioning are -- Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare, and Call of Duty: World at War -- atleast before the hacking, cheaters, and douchebags ruined everything. I'm personally done playing Call of Duty till we get a proper successor. I'm waiting for Call of Duty5. Till then they can continue with these side stories, and fillers all they want. I just cannot stand the people for the most part. Worst player base in the world. Even when compared to World of Warcraft they are exceedingly worse in nearly every possible way.
Call of Duty: Black Ops2? Already know of a number of games right off the bat it is trying to play off of -- which is not necessarily bad, but considering what I have to expect in terms of story, and gameplay? I'm not really interested at all. Zombies would be the only reason to play and even then Call of Duty: Black Ops could not get me to stay. So yeah.. Not really interested. Just sort of burned out and have been since the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare2. Also note how utterly small the "Call of Duty" was for both MW2, and MW3. Even Activision knew they were gonna bomb out the series. Might as well not be a Call of Duty title.
Seriously miss the early years of this generation. Oh well.. I may yet buy into Counter Strike: Global Offensive. If only due to nostalgia. |
