Do Orbital strikes even exist in Dust Yet? If they do , how much do they cost and where in the market would you even get them? Your insight in greatly appreciated! |

As stated, only when EVE and Dust are integrated. As for price, they will probably cost a ton of ISK. Why? Because you can't just buy them on the market. You have to contract an EVE corp or player to park their ship above the battlefield and wait for a strike code from you. Bear in mind they won't be able to just "park" there whenever they want. Parking over a disputed planet would probably give you a very short life expectancy.

Orbital bombardment requires an Eve player with a ship fitted for it.
You cannot buy them, you purchase some equipment that lets you designate a target which can then be targeted by an Eve ship in orbit which then shoots down at the planet.

Actually they are testing them, and I have been witness to two orbital strikes in-game. No warning at all, but a blue light that comes down from above, and explosion. Sadly? They have very little impact, and the blast radius is minimal. I could not even hear the concusive explosion, or see a shock wave afterwards even. I really wasn't impressed after being surprised.
I hope they improve upon them, or at the very least make them seem somewhat more terrifying. Otherwise unless you saw the blue beam of light you probably never realised it happened. The developers are testing them though when servers are up. |

Judging by that video they look kick ass. I hope that they do make an impact when they go off otherwise it will be like "orbital strike? Meh rain hits harder". |

Are you sure about this? I'm not mocking, just haven't heard this from anyone else so it's rather odd that you've seen two while no one's even seen one. Could it be an explosion from a tower camper? Maybe a blue bolt from a tower camping railgun tank? |

You sure that's what you saw? You were probably just getting hit by dropship tower campers while looking at that thing to the far end of the defensive side of the skirmish map...
I think CCP will probably end up linking the DUST beta to Sisi in a build or two, though. |

I'm looking forward to when calling in vehicles and other support like OB costs warpoints (and therefore subtracts from your match payout). Since OBs will be contacts with Eve players there will probably be some Isk exchanged as well.

There is a planetary "gun" on the horizon (to the north-east) that shoots off occasionally on the current map. You might have caught a glance of this in the background and some explosions in the foreground. |

It was an orbital strike, and CCP has already fired off number of them. I'm not the first person to witness one, and several people on here have seen one or even more then me. Trust me when you see a pillar of bluish, white lite you'll know what it is. The problem though is really does not feel like it impacts the game, or battle. The first one I saw detsroyed a CRU on the north-east side during our skirmish match.
As I pointed out though. People on here have seen them before, and posted seeing them. The second one I saw though was recently, and I barely caught it actually. A lot of chatter on the mic in game though about it. I was not around for the previous build, but I remember some people saying they saw one before in that build too. I wish I could prove I saw it, but I have no DVR hooked to my PlayStation3, and then you have the NDA. I have seen one fully, and nother just before the beam animation vanished.
There is a difference though between missiles, dropships, forgegunners, and the orbital strike. You'll know when you see it. |
