So, apparently, with the new Dev Blog it's revealed that the majority of people quit right at the beginning of the tutorial around the explanation of the Captain's Quarters and understanding the Skill Training. I wonder when it is people quit in Dust?

After dying 10 times in a row or not getting 10 kills in a row. When "everything" is overpowered...except what they are using.
Pretty much happens in every shooter.
I for one what more EXPLANATION....[is still shaking head at how it took to work out L1 detonated REs].
Actually...l just want more:)

As it stands now, unless you are coming from a game that has similar mechanics, the learning curve is fairly steep (not really high, but steep). I still shake my head from time to time when I look up at the big screens in the War-Room and think about how long it took me to realize what those were for.
There really needs to be a tutorial of some sort when a person logs in the first time (can be skippable) that gives a brief overview of the universe, and some basic training (movement, objectives, hacking, etc...). Bascially a "training" simulator that would take them through some of the games basic functionality and explain how various things work. For instance, how the amount of ISK you get at the end of the battle depends on the level of armor used by everyone in the match. I think we all would like ot know how SP works (I think it's just broke right now)
Hopefully, we can get a decent in-game tutorial. Training dummies would also be nice so that I can get a feel for that new weapon I bought. |

I'm a fan of those simulator deck ideas that people have been tossing out. I mean, the War Barge is a big ship, and I'd wager there's plenty of room for some kind of testing area in there. |

You guys should look into the Test Server of Eve Online - will probably have that instead of an entire game feature. It's just easier. |

And what the hell is your issue to have that sort of reaction - not to mention that sort of assumption - toward my post? Here's an idea mate. Sit down, drink a beer, kill some more adversaries in Dust/Eve and quit being such a volatile ****. Savvy? |

I think that people quiting over the skill times is pretty silly. CCP games demand a different mindset than the min/max and the "perfect set" of most mmo's.
It never bothered me, really, training anything to level 4 is quite "fast", level 5 is not required until latter on when you start focusing on rounding up your character.
Amazingly, Skill queues let you really play the game, and not grind it. Instead of grind a skill, you can group up and go PVP or PVE without bothering with anything but certain comedy deaths/kills.
What people most of the time do not realize is that you do not have to have ALL skills to level 5, nor people chose a vessel hull / role to specialize.
And "specialization" dosent mean limitation. Most skills are part of several roles, and once a role is mastered you go after another. Before you realize, you have quite a diversified number of hulls you can fly and roles to perform.
If you set your goals and manage them, you can get up so speed quite fast.
And for all other things, allways have other games handy, its the best way to pass the time when you do not want to play EVE. Its funny how much free time you get not having to grind stuff up. |

Agreed, EVE is it's own monster and one that CCP should be proud of. The game does have incredibly high learning curve, especially if you come into the game without a buddy to help you along. Even still, I will shelf it for a month or two if I'm busy and put on the long trains... we all have those lvl 5s we want for (insert faction/capital/black ops here) ship. But... we all come back eventually like good dogs when we are hungry for our original fascination with science fiction.
Dust is a good diversion and fills the quick kill desires not at your fingertips in EVE most of the time. Keep it rolling CCP, we're pick'n up what your put'n down! |

Be careful what you wish for, I think something like this has happened to me a few times, possibly a glitch, I will throw down an RE, get shot with any kind of weapon, for some reason the damn thing detonates right under me, I know it wasn't hit with a bullet and I was still at almost full health.. Led to much raging of course |
