People still listen to what IGN members have to say? Wow, and here I thought we'd have evolved past senseless bull**** by now. |

Yes, we'll miss all of that virtual currency on our free game. |

Abner Kalen wrote: Modern Warfare 3 sold over $1billion in the first 16 days. This is the potential market that Dust can tap into, which will help promote and benefit Eve Online as the two are interconnected. MW3 has a $60 price point, and obvious costs for publishing, packaging, advertisement, etc. Dust has a FTP model, so it needs much more players just to find someone who will spend real world money to purchase in-game Aurum packs. It needs millions to like the game to find those few willing to buy AU.
Are you .... kidding me? No, seriously, are you ignorant or something? I mean - honestly - are you lacking intellectual capabilities, maybe have cerebral palsy?
They -developed- the game for free, they are -releasing- it for free with paying aspects and LOOSE ones at that. You know where they get their revenue? 500,000 people spending $15 a month (not a one time $60 buy-in) and then going the extra mile to buy in-game currency at $20 per PLEX for vanity items (clothing) and also whatever else they decide on buying. In-fact, I know a guy who recently bought $200 worth of PLEX just because he wanted a Jump Freighter.
They don't -NEED- the FPS community - otherwise they wouldn't be doing a FTP model in the first place. It's just added revenue to an already thriving product/service that has constantly gained members each year, something that absolutely no other video game has done without marked losses. You know what else they have that could potentially be money going down the drain without 'x' amount of consumers? Yearly fan-fests. EON Magazine subscriptions. Merchandise. Books.
What -will- make Dust 514 fail isn't a bunch of IGN idiots posting up bad reviews that no-one is going to pay attention to or a portion of the FPS community (predominantly brain dead children who've never thought for themselves) is the Eve Online community giving it the thumbs down. Dust 514 and Eve Online have the capability to operate on their own - without connection to one another.
We don't -need- anything from you, it's just a polite gesture and expansion to the players who don't have a good PC or don't have the patience for Eve Online's style of play. Don't act so pompous and assume that this game is necessary for the continued existence of New Eden, it's unbecoming. I'm only being a jerk about it because it's what I'm known for as well as lighting the blow so that some other bitter vet doesn't jump you instead.
And just to add on to my point - even though you're being a cynical head crying and whining in defense of these short-sighted fools you're still playing Dust 514. Now look in the mirror, realize personally that you're not just ignorant but also a hypocrite, and learn something from this conversation.
Then get back on the field and kill some people with me - hell, I'll even buy you a gun or two with my unnecessary amount of wealth from Eve Online. |

So far this argument hasn't been touched winch is not heartening.
Time will tell and thats somthing CCP have alot of....Time Also if you look at how much Eve has changed and I dont mean little patchs here and there then you might have a little more faith. CCP doesn't have much time at all - aren't they releasing this game in only a few months? I would've thought core gameplay would've been ironed out by now, and at this phase they'd be refining graphics and environments. I really want Dust to succeed, but first impressions are so incredibly important. David Reid is saying this is a triple-A shooter - it should play like an AAA title with all of the polish of an AAA title. This game isn't Eve - it won't survive on 300,000 players alone. It needs millions. They had the alpha in 09 fanfest! The core FPS mechanics should've been on point by now hit detection was supposed to be fixed twice already and it barely improved!
Yanno, I never had an issue killing people... Mass Drivers, Sniper Rifles, and Assault Rifles must have some weird thing about having better hit detection - specifically for me. |
