Mostly this is a good thread, but I will address one MAJOR point.
Needing to lead shots by a wide margin Gëá bad hit detection.
And it also isn't a bad thing. It takes some getting used to, and the hit detection IS wonky, but the need to lead your shots isn't entirely about that.
Yes, projectile speed on almost all small arms (ARs, SMGs, and particularly Sniper Rifles) needs a major increase, but that's a totally separate issue to the game's problems with hit detection.
I've fired into a target's back with a shotgun at point-blank while said target is manning a turret (not moving at all), seen a shield flare and hit markers, BUT NO DAMAGE. I did NOTHING with a point-blank shotgun hit, for NO reason. You sometimes see projectiles "clip' through vehicles and enemy soldiers, triggering the on-screen hit markers and the shield animation, but not actually applying damage.
This has been addressed as a known issue by CCP, and it has supposedly improved significantly from the previous build (I wasn't here), but it still needs work. |

NPC Faction warfare in HighSec is very different from Corp warfare in LowSec and particularly in NulSec though.
NPC factions are MEANT to be kept, to some extent, balanced and incapable of really gaining too much ground against one another. The noobs will hold backt he factions, just like they did in MAG, keeping the balance. The clans will form corps, and move out of those battles, and corp battles WON'T be involving randoms/noobs, because that's not what managing a corp is about. People will fight over territory - which will be persistent territory they can claim, and own, and have control over, and make a profit from.
That added layer of metagame playtime adds a whole new dimension that other console FPS games don't have. |
