Debacle Nano wrote:Then argue that the blaster turret sucks and that I should not be using it as a turret when you don't even drive a Surya! Stop being rude. And don't even think about destroying that supply depot just because the enemy has it...
what i am saying is i drive a surya.....use a railgun
edit: and there are situations where you absolutely destroy those depots |

i dont feel i was being aggressive at all. your staring at a wall of text lol, you ahve no idea if im pulling this all out of my ass...
anyway, yes there are uses for each type of turret, but in this build, with the current stats(many turrets big and small are broken) the railgun will give you the best combat efficiency in common situations.
Ive taught quite a bit of tankers since i started testing now and not one has come to me with negative results...Im tryin to help bud |

it doesnt matter what you drive.....you can put anything on either one right now and if you are so early in your tanking skills that you only have the base turret then you shouldnt even have that tank out in the first place....tryin to save you guys money here....a lot of it. |

Look man... its gotta be frustrating but... the Surya blaster cannons just suck. At least put some missiles on there.
Before you go getting mad, I do have a Surya. Mine's equipped with mid-grade small missile turrets (skill lvl 4) and the low-grade large missile turret (skill lvl 1). I have a crap load of armor hardeners and repairs but the damage is relatively weak. I call on it when my team is stomping the enemy and they're so spread out I know they won't gang up on me.
Point of the story is just because you can afford an expensive tank, doesn't mean it's gonna be useful on the battlefield, especially when 50% of Heavy's are packing forge guns. The base model Surya doesn't stand a chance out there anymore. So if people get upset it's because you offered up a tank and they're expecting something that can hold its own against a group of enemies.
Actually, blasters have the highest DPM of any of the large turrets. I am a stats wiz, I could go on and into detail if you want. I've put 16 million sp into my surya. I wreck with it and its awesome. Don't know why you would say it doesn't.
look, debacle....im not a bad tank driver.....im really truly trying to give you a pointer here.....just try the railgun. it has splash and better burst damage.....i doesnt matter what your DPS is when the enemy can rep it away....its hard to rep big chunks of health.... |

As for artillery, I'll need a bit more info on what exactly it'll be like before I'll get too excited. I love my Railgun so much, it'll be hard to let it go.
honestly, i feel the exact same way.
i want so much for artillery to be badass......SO MUCH
just in case theyre not tho.........come on CCP........im plenty effective with my railgun
plus we still have autocannons and lasers |

debacle, what pokey said is right. YES, blasters have great cqc DPS.....you dont want to engage tanks at close range....well, maybe on this map, but why would you handicap yourself? the difference in damage for railguns at close range is negligible and having the range is great for more than just AV dealings.....plus....SPLASH......you dont appreciate it until you find out how great it is
sincere help offered here......
take it or leave it, i wont say anything more. id be happy to duke it out with you anytime if your using blasters after all, rather i would chase you down if i saw a blaster turret |

fair enough, i certainly dont have any right to tell you what to do.
if i may tho, make a second railgun fit for different types of situations? i certainly have more than one fitting... |

I figured out how to get around the turn speed....any driver worth his salt has.....
regardless, since there is currently only one skirmish map, the amount of applications for each turret type is severely limited and it has become common practice that railguns are the way to go right now...in our one map...
itll change once the environment changes or we get differing maps |

Absolutely. I have at a minimum 3 different fits for both Surya and Sageris, I tend to favor some over others, but they all get used frequently depending on the situation. Half of tanking is know when to use different tools to accomplish the task at hand, especially if you have multiple tanks coordinating together, you need to change your tactics to compliment one another. It's really not the damage that I am worried about. It's the turn speed of the railgun that hinders me. Meh, turn speed has never been an issue for me with the railgun, plus being able to pick swarm and forge snipers off from the other side of the map is really nice. But really, its personal preference, since there is no "best" weapon or fit, everything has its weakness. See I gank. When you're set up under the pipes near attacker spawn picking people off near A. I stare at the map till your icon shows up.
DOH!!
i said i dont judge.....but now i cant help it.....
bud, you need all the help you can get.

Im kinda tired so ill leave you with one last bit of advice....
A tanks weakness is its maneuverability, but weaknesses are irrelevant if the tank isnt even involved in the battle. |

carl von oppenheimer wrote:I was today in a surya fitted with all blasters and it had one thing which was that with 3 blasters you can fill up the air with so much hot lead that everything near died and died fast . Worst thing to use against infantry is the small rail gun as it has no explosion radius what so ever and that recharge time ugghh, just impossible to hit anything with it unless it was something large like another tank or a drop ship. Large rail gun how ever is a beast when moving down infantry with it's OHK splash damage, down side is the charge up time. Small missiles are good against most targets because they don't miss all that often thanks to large explosion radius, large missile turret however is a very hit and miss as it shares characteristics with swarm launcher when it comes to obstacles and the splash damage for large missile turret is very slow even if the area is quite large. Also stats wise and from experience it seems that small missile turrets actually do more damage then large turret, likely because hit detection is called in for each of the 4 missiles (ie. one or two missiles always hit on lamp posts, walls, hill et c.) where smalls have only a single missile with near equal dmg potential.
large missile turrets do less damage than small missile turrets per missile cause thats just how they work. your shooting four of them, so its more damage per shot with stupid splash |
