When I join a game, and you ask if their are any tank drivers out there and I say I drive a Surya, don't call my tank slow and paper thin. Then argue that the blaster turret sucks and that I should not be using it as a turret when you don't even drive a Surya! Stop being rude. And don't even think about destroying that supply depot just because the enemy has it...
Commenter made good point. |

Why do you say use a railgun? |

Look man... its gotta be frustrating but... the Surya blaster cannons just suck. At least put some missiles on there.
Before you go getting mad, I do have a Surya. Mine's equipped with mid-grade small missile turrets (skill lvl 4) and the low-grade large missile turret (skill lvl 1). I have a crap load of armor hardeners and repairs but the damage is relatively weak. I call on it when my team is stomping the enemy and they're so spread out I know they won't gang up on me.
Point of the story is just because you can afford an expensive tank, doesn't mean it's gonna be useful on the battlefield, especially when 50% of Heavy's are packing forge guns. The base model Surya doesn't stand a chance out there anymore. So if people get upset it's because you offered up a tank and they're expecting something that can hold its own against a group of enemies.
Actually, blasters have the highest DPM of any of the large turrets. I am a stats wiz, I could go on and into detail if you want.
I've put 16 million sp into my surya. I wreck with it and its awesome. Don't know why you would say it doesn't.
Edit: Had to plug laptop in. The reason I posted this was because a guy asked why I used a blaster on my surya, I told him that it has higher damage output. Some other guy speaks up and starts ranting with profane words that what I was saying was BS. |

Mmk you stick to your way. I'll stick to mine. And I never said you were a bad tank driver, I just trust the stats more.

Pokey Dravon wrote:Blasters may deal the most DPS close up but they have really bad damage fall off range, so they're really only most effective close up. Railguns however have exceptionally long effective range, which makes them a bit more flexible in terms of killing power.
As for artillery, I'll need a bit more info on what exactly it'll be like before I'll get too excited. I love my Railgun so much, it'll be hard to let it go.
My playstyle accounts for this. I've adapted to it. I easily outgank any other tank that uses a railgun, if I am prepared for it. |

anyway, yes there are uses for each type of turret, but in this build, with the current stats(many turrets big and small are broken) the railgun will give you the best combat efficiency in common situations.
Ive taught quite a bit of tankers since i started testing now and not one has come to me with negative results...Im tryin to help bud
*Facepalm* I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about a guy over the mic in a game. |

Lurchasaurus wrote:debacle, what pokey said is right. YES, blasters have great cqc DPS.....you dont want to engage tanks at close range....well, maybe on this map, but why would you handicap yourself? the difference in damage for railguns at close range is negligible and having the range is great for more than just AV dealings.....plus....SPLASH......you dont appreciate it until you find out how great it is
sincere help offered here......
take it or leave it, i wont say anything more. id be happy to duke it out with you anytime if your using blasters after all, rather i would chase you down if i saw a blaster turret
It's really hard to explain how I play. Railguns don't cut it for me. Anyways, I'm used to snapping to targets like infantry real fast. And actually it's a lot easier to hit than you think. |

Absolutely. I have at a minimum 3 different fits for both Surya and Sageris, I tend to favor some over others, but they all get used frequently depending on the situation. Half of tanking is know when to use different tools to accomplish the task at hand, especially if you have multiple tanks coordinating together, you need to change your tactics to compliment one another.
It's really not the damage that I am worried about. It's the turn speed of the railgun that hinders me. |

Meh, turn speed has never been an issue for me with the railgun, plus being able to pick swarm and forge snipers off from the other side of the map is really nice. But really, its personal preference, since there is no "best" weapon or fit, everything has its weakness.
See I gank. When you're set up under the pipes near attacker spawn picking people off near A. I stare at the map till your icon shows up. |

regardless, since there is currently only one skirmish map, the amount of applications for each turret type is severely limited and it has become common practice that railguns are the way to go right now...in our one map...
itll change once the environment changes or we get differing maps
I know how. But it's nearly impossible to do while moving forward without changing your course. |

I have no issues operating the chassis and the turret completely independently, being able to do that effortlessly is one of the most important skills for a tank driver to have. Also if you're "ganking" someone, that means they're sitting still, which means they have no clue what they're doing, so that's not much of an accomplishment.
Ok. I need the speed of the blasters turn radius to be able to do what I do.
And that was just an example. |
