I'm one of those players that if I put a little effort into killing something like say the Dropship and it has a player in it and I know that I hit it 3-4 times its at 0% armor and shields and its plumenting to its death that I should get the kill on at least the driver.
I kinda find it a little nerve racking popping 3-4 forge gun rounds into one of the flying machines to only have to the driver bailout and all I get is the +15 for destruction.
They sorta fixed it for the tank that if it (The Tank) get's really low hp and you try and bailout and then the finishing blow hits right as you bail out the explosion from the tank will most likely kill you.
So my thoughts on it were that the Dropship just blow up as soon as it hits 0% armor right in the middle of the air instead of having to drop to the ground first then exploding. or Make Inertia Dampener a module that you have to equip to use making the pilot waste a valuable module slot that could be used for something else.
These are my thoughts so go ahead and share your thought if you even have one. Also suggestions to a solution or even rage at the thought on a nerf to being able to bail-out of what I'm calling the Pillow Ride. (Cause you can just jump out and have inertia dampeners cushion your fall.) |

someones gonna come find you at home and hurt you if you say make the dampener a mod......
aside from that, i kinda like seeing the dropships plummeting, its also a lil more realistic since they wont always explode...maybe adding an explosion if the dropship got nailed by a railgun would be nice, but what if you are squeaked to death by an AR? you want an instant explosion?
edit: Oh, and dropships do explode when they hit, a lot of guys just end up landing away from the point of impact...
again i think its good that you can get out of a compromised dropship, and ima tanker |

just let snipers take out the gunners, the driver, and or the passengers. there should also be a very small "critical hit" spot that blows it up instantly when hit with a high damage round. i've gotten a few of my hacks by leaping out of said dead dropships, but i can see how this would annoy you, seeing as dropships are the most overpowered vehicle in the game. i may be overstating, but i don't care. |

sure, cause they dont fall from the sky. plain and simple, its a game mechanic that CCP put in. you dont have to like it, but your gonna have to deal with it.

personal opinion is that dropships having a "crit spot" would be kinda....not good. There are AV fits for a reason. You wanna snipe a dropship down? go ahead, you already can, itll just take a couple shots. as a sniper you are not an AV asset, plain and simple... |

ya. was there something wrong with what i said? i figured you guys couldnt complain about that since i dont have any kind of "falling" before my tank blows up, if i ever make a mistake and that happens.

The blight of tank drivers the inability to jump out before they explode like Dropships XD and when webifiers come being a tank will just be impossible. |

true, it will be a lot harder, thats why its annoying seeing people moan about problems that will clearly be addressed by orbital strikes and EW.
Personally, i dont leave my tank cause:
#1 i put a lot of investment into it and i would prefer to squeak out one more hit before death and maybe even save the tank, cause it happens a lot more than you think.
#2 I personally feel if someone has done enough to kill me, they deserve the points for my death, fair?
#3 The only time i jump out, and its only been like three times, is when ive either lost my tank to shenanigans, or the situation demanded i get out and **** the ******* with my smg or forge
Honestly, number 2 is my prime reason tho. The EVE universe is pretty cutthroat and anything goes, but thats one of the few ways i try and show some honor outside of loyalty to my corp |

You basically summarized my point with your #2. Specially since dropships can just hide beyond draw distance and by the time i even get my 2-3 shot off they are already hidden by the "Fog of War". At 1.6 second charge time or w.e it is and the instability you would call a forge gun since it does venture off sometimes to lands unknown that its not easy killing an airborne target. |

Dropships barely have any tank. They should be able to bail. |

First things first if a dropship was meant to tank then it would be a actual tank instead of a dropship.
No dropships are the things people use to get around the map quicker with a full squad and be able to serve as a mobile cru at low levels and a stationary cru at high level's.
If ccp wanted them to tank they would of gave them more cpu or pg for you to equip 120mm armor plates. |

The problem with dropships is i can count the number of pilots on one hand who use them the right way. Most people use them as a taxi for 20 seconds to get from point a to point b or for useless shenanigans, leaving me with a full vehicle queue.
Militia vehicles are free, therefore negligible isk returns for a destruction, most noobs dont give a **** about their free insta ride and wont bat an eye about trashing it...no way theyre gonna die with it....
As i have said many times......Most if not all complaints will be FIXED with this next build.....just hold out a little longer lol, you wont spontaneously combust, i promise you. |

They're adding overkill to dropships. If enough damage is dealt to the dropship after all of its shields and armor are depleted, it will explode in midair. The exact amount of damage has not been decided, but the Dev I spoke with mentioned something like 2000 damage beyond critical damage to blow up a dropship midair. |

I did have a glorious kill earlier today, where somehow I shot a dropship on the ground and it seemed to explode instantly, killing all 5 passengers inside. That was a fun killfeed to watch. |

i do love shooting at dropship gunners, only to splash everyone inside in an instagib and then get the noob pilot who doesnt realize he is going down until.....

If a dropship is at 30%ish armor and you hit it with a forge gun, then it probably didn't get knocked that far below 0% (unless it's a viper) and it should spin and plummet and all that dramatic stuff, unless of course you land another shot as its going down, blow it up as it's falling.
Now, if a dropship has 10% armor (no shields) and you nail it with a forge gun... HELL YEAH it should explode on hit! I want to see some full squad kills, Kill +50x7 would feel so rewarding for us AV guys!
So lets say if you knock it below -15% armor, it should go kablooy :) |

I find drop ships easy to take down, but everyone is right, it gets annoying when you see 3 guys hopping out as its swirling towards the ground. Maybe if they made them fall faster, or you had to do a quick button sequence to get out.(Probably would be an easy thing to program in) For example hitting Square, Triangle, then Circle to be able to bail as a pilot or gunner because I would say they're supposed to be strapped in, so it would make more sense. People that are just chilling waiting for a drop-off of course can bail anytime with ease.
I don't really mind, but I think pilots should be forced to go down with their ship at least. Maybe give pilots some control as they're going down to give their gunners a few extra seconds to get out, or squash one more guy?

Hmm...I agree that overkill on dropships for instant explosion ought to be a little bit easier to achieve. A forge gun, particularly a higher damage one firing into a dropship that is, say in the last 25% of armor or so (depends on how much armor it started with) should probably blow up right away. If a swarm launcher swarm has, say 3 or 4 more missiles than needed to take the dropship down, then the extras should be enough for the overkill. Anything else should be pretty tough to overkill with. I do remember pumping sniper rounds into a DS once, along with a forge gunner and/or swarm launcher operator or two, and somehow I got the hit in that triggered overkill...got a big midair boom, and a +60 for the DS, as well as at least one +50 kill.
On another note...it is possible to snipe a door gunner. Its not easy on a moving target, but sometimes I get lucky. The hit detection seems to be slightly off though. I have had times where I put several rounds into a gunner on a stationary DS with no effect, and times where I popped a shot off at a fast moving DS as it crossed my scope and popped the gunner. I have also had times where I put several rounds into a LAV gunner with no apparent effect. It is also tough to tell if your shots are registering on the vehicle or on the gunner, as most of the time it won't show you the gunner's health bars. |
