I am a forge gun user. I like my forge gun. My forge gun is often only what my team has in a instant that can respond and deal with a loaded enemy dropship. I however been noticing that in infantry vs dropship battles, the infanty have a major disadvantage in that if the drophip moves far enough away from the infantry attacking them, the infantry sees the dropship disapear out of thier own draw distance. The problem is that while the infantry can't see the dropship, the dropship is able to see the soldier on the ground and bombard him/her from outside the draw distance.
I have personally taken part in instances were I shoot the first shot against a dropship with my forge gun, hitting it (it takes 2-3 to kill), and the dropship responds by backing away and bombarding as an invisible enemy outside my draw distance. I can see the shots very accuratly coming at me, and if I am very lucky I can shoot back based on on where the shot is coming from, but 8/10 times this is isn't feasible.
Some possible solutions would be just better draw distance for all players, or if the draw distance can't be improved, shorten the range on the dropship guns. The shorter dropship gun range would also mean there would be far more use of the dropship as a fast hit-n-run vehicle instead of a tower bomber or flying battleship. Save the orbital bonbardments for the EVE players |

So will dropships gun range remain the same? Its is good to know that the draw distance is being improved upon, but as I suggested in the end of my first post maybe it is another issue here (dropships acting as persudo orbital bombardment by being able to hit anywhere they see). |
