If I sneak into a base in this game. Is it possibe to knife the enemy in the back so that I can stay unnoticed? or will I have to level up in that catagory first? Is knifing in the back a critical hit

When they fix the hit distance and the knifing speed/response it may get easier, but right now if you get the drop on someone just shoot them in the head.
A damage buff on a back stab isn't currently applied, but should be, IMO.

lol no need for having a knife in the future. They might as well take it off.

Knives are very inconsistent thanks in part to control response issues but also because of the hit detection problem, which is MUCH more problematic for melee.

Taking the Knife skill gives you +10% damage per level, for a total of +50% so that makes a huge difference, stack it with stimulants (melee damage buff) and you can hit pretty hard.

But if the target's on comms, they'll be able to say "someone killed me at X" and their teammates will investigate. SO it's not exactly stealthy unless you know the other guy is playing silent.

Quick-knife means you can actually kill people you sneak up on if you have invested in the skills. A protoscout can take down a fully plated/expanded heavy in 3 hits (under a second). They are brutally effective if you try to make them a primary. Any sort of buff would be overkill.

In the last game I played, I two-shotted an Assault guy who then started raging about how his protosuit shouldn't have died to a guy with a knife.

No Stimulants, level 3 Knife Handling.

 Apparently headshots work... Weird.

 I actually experimented with that.

 Advanced Scout Suit (ISK variant)
Mid slots: 2x Myofiber stimulants for extra melee damage
Low slots: 2x Catalyzers for sprint speed (you need to get up close real quick).
Knifing Skill level 4 so you can use the stimulants that give an extra 25% damage.
Mobility Skill level 4 so that you can use the enhanced catalyzers for that extra sprint speed.*
Set controller sensitivity all the way up as you will need to turn really fast.

 * - Every little boost to sprint speed helps here because you don't want to give your opponent any time to mow you down if you miss on the first hit.

At this rate, you will be able to kill a assault dude in 3 stabs and a scout dude in just 1. I never got a chance to hit the head so I have no idea how that effects their armor. Avoid heavies as they take too long to kill even from behind. If you can't kill someone in three stabs, leave the area immediately.

The only reason I got away with mine was because the guy was manning the Blaster Installation behind B. I wanted to hack it, and he was in my way. But I didn't want to alert the tank I had caught sight of at C, so I did it all sneaky-like... I fully expected to die, but somehow, I got away with it, stole the Blaster, and forced the tank to back off while I ran back to B and helped to hack it.

If you want to actually kill people with the knife fast, get handling to 5. Gives you another 10% bonus and the mods jump from 25% to 50%. I was running around with a dragonfly and knife 4 to good effect (ganking heavies is the best) and plan on trying prototype scouts next weekend.

first point: if you dont think knives are powerful enough, SKILL THEM UP, just like you do for every other weapon....

second point: anyone who knows how a minimap works or knows what a red dot means will not get caught in a situation where they go, "Oh snap! I just got my throat slit!"

 third point: people have mics

fourth point: in the hands of a skilled, spec'd, modded user, knives are doomsday weapons, just like everything else potentially is...

Do anyone know if knifing going to be fixed in new patch? Knifing seem unbalance and odd.
