Arguably CCP screwed up with mis-communication about what the beta community should expect for maps this weekend. So how can we give them constructive criticism on dealing with this sort of thing in the future?
An example situation: the community is dissatisfied because the same maps and game modes have been around for so long that almost everyone feels all the problems have surfaced. CCP has some new things they want to test but the exact time those things will be ready isn't certain. Things like content have to some extent to be synchronized with changes to the client.
How do you suggest CCP should proceed as far as communicating with the community and balancing resources between roll outs and development?
My personal preference is to say out front what the issues -- but not necessarily the details -- are. For example:
"Folks -- we have some maps in the works we are trying to get out for this week end. They need to be coordinated with network infrastructure changes, Sony downtime and some back-end stuff about whether it would do more good to wait until we get the new build up to get the most out of the new content. We wanted to let you know we really appreciate all the effort you're putting into the beta and that keeping things interesting for you so you stick with us is important. We'll do everything we can to get the new stuff out but if it doesn't work out we hope you understand. Thanks - CCP." |

I do agree if you mean they don't communicate that they have listened and what their current position on issues is: haven't decided, no way in hell, working on it, etc. We see isolated instances of that kind of communication but it doesn't seem to be organized (resourced? funded?). |

Lol they have their own schedule, we are just a form of market... why do you think they let ign in? I mean ya we report bugs, but that is going to happen regardless |

They handle it fine provided you aren't insulting.
Firstly, communication about new maps, new toys, character resets, ect should ONLY be via these forums currently. It is very frustrating clutching at rumours from here instead of just checking a "DEV / GM NEWS" thread. Which should be locked, so only GM/DEVS can post.
Secondly, I think that CCP need to troll the hell out of us by actually them starting threads such as this. Asking for our opinions. When I say troll us I mean that they can just ask us anything and watch and laugh at our responses. |

When I'm at work, under pressure of deadlines, I'm not screwing around with my best customers just for the lolz. It's possible some dummies might do it but to say "CCP" like it's corporate policy just doesn't sound likely to me.
