I am leaning toward it being a special Dropsuit that only allows you the ability to cloak and equip 1 weapon? While moving the cloak disengages but when in position and activated you are almost invisible to enemies After a shot is fired the cloak disengages for 5 seconds then can be reactivated. |

that sounds like a terrible idea and just begs to be abused if it is put in game... |

They have cloak modules in EVE, and there's almost certainly a plan to introduce cloaking modules with Scouts having a bonus to equipping them.
There was a discussion a while ago asking about how best to implement such a feature.
EWAR is coming, this will be a part of it. |

*Cloaking Module, as one increases skill & buys better modules they are able to keep cloak longer or do more in cloak. (ie. jog or even sprint in cloak). *Cloak Shimmer or Distortion of View of environment seen through the player/cloak. *Cloaks that have more capability could possiblity use more power/cpu; such as a sniper using most of his suit's power/cpu for a cloak that drops temporarily when he fires, but returns. *The cloak could require recharge between cloaks, similar to stamina, depending on the kind of Cloak Module you are skilled towards and using, decides how long the cloak is or even the recharge rate.
Edit: These are all just early ideas, CCP mentioned in a Q&A they will eventually like to put in cloaking. |

Ah I see, I figured they would have something like that in the works, As to the abuse part I disagree. First it would be godly if you where permanently cloaked however I suggested you uncloak while making your shot. Now when ever we are shot in DUST we have a hit indicator hinting to what direction the bullet came from. The only advantage here is that a sniper would have a set cool down before he/she could activate the cloak again. Now I don't mean you shoot wait five seconds shoot and can activate the cloak I mean every time you fire your cloak is given a cool down timer. So you have to wait a minimum time of say 5 seconds but could be made longer though 5 seconds is a long time in a game.
Now if you think its just unfair for someone to utilize a cloaking device that restricts weapons and mods as I suggested you could combat them with maybe a anti-cloak field generator? a Mod that sets up a area of Effect (AOE) that disallows cloaks to be used in the area. |
