Nine almost ten years is an awful long time for any EVE player to describe, hmm. It would be too easy to go on a long tangent when trying to describe all of that.
I might post later and post a few major articles that describe major events, but is there anything in particular you are interested in, like major alliances falling or economical upsets or protests or special events like Hulkagedon (An event where people are rewarded for destroying ORE Mining vessels)?
As for best and worst corps, first thing you need to learn is that is a loaded question that you should refrain from ever asking again. There are no best corps, though there are plenty of bad ones. |

Back when the game was only 4 years old I could go on hour long stints describing the game's history to people. I'm not going to attempt that now that it's going on 10.
Someone could help you if you can be more specific, e.g. early wars, late wars, alliance politics, role playing events (player run or official), backstory, economic historic trends, exploits, pirates, mercenaries, traders, thieves, undercover agents, CEOs... too many events and people have left their mark on the game universe. |

There are a lot of good resources out there. Google is your friend.
Hunt out the better blogs and websites. I'd recommend http://jestertrek.blogspot.ca/ - some of the articles assume EVE technical knowledge, but just pick and choose your way through them to get a feel for New Eden. Jester's site links to some of his fav's and the EVE blogroll - sift through these looking for bigger-picture articles and you'll come out with a reasonable understanding of the incredibly rich and deep world you've fallen into.
