I'm not sure if this is a good idea or a bad one, please let me know. As I was playing I encountered many people using anti-vehicle weapons as a primary weapon to battle with, rather than an assault rifle, submachine gun, or sniper rifle. The shear power of anti-vehicle weapons are very great, but they are that way for a purpose. As stated in their name, they are anti-vehicle weapons, meaning they are ment to destroy or damage vehicles. It is known that vehicles have vast's amount of amour and shields. Logically, a weapon would need a lot of power to damage or even scratch these heavily protected vehicles. This is why anti-vehicle weapons are tanked with so much power and I think it is for the better. But, when a person can use that power to easily kill a merc with just one shot, it seems to give people an advantage over others. This disrupts the "flow" of the game. Meaning that every merc is supposed to have a specific job to overcome the other team, whether it be skirmish or any other game type. It's the sync or flow of all the different mercs working together that make overcoming another team possible and what separates this game from many. If one or even everyone can just use weapons that kill easily with one or in a few shots, then what is the point of having all the different merc when everyone can easily rack up kills with just one.
Many people think the solution to this problem is to just nerf them and be done with it. This poses many problems. Nerfing the anti-vehicle weapons will make the point of the weapons useless because they won't be able to kill a vehicle and in-turn make people not use them because what would be the point if they couldn't kill anything or if they were very hard to kill with. My solution to this problem is to make the anti-vehicle weapons lock on fire only. If they are lock on fire only, then there purpose is still fufilled and one person cannot be a dominator on the battlefield. Anti-vehicle weapons will be used more for there purpose, rather than as a light weapon. Another solution might be if the anti-vehicle weapons stayed as a free fire weapon, but have reduced ammo capacity, so a person could not rule the battlefield the whole game. Maybe have a mixture of both lock on fire only anti-vehicle weapons with a good amount of ammo and a free fire anti-vehicle weapons with limited ammunition.
These are just my suggestions, let me know what you think. If there are any flaws, any better solution, or you think they are fine just the way they are please let me know, thank you. |

Which weapons are ou speaking of precisely? Also, this would have been better in feed/suggestions subforum.
The Swarm launcher has been nerfed against infantry. I think splash damage has been lowered.
Forge guns are very hard to aim at infantry and have a low ROF. When charging, their crosshair shakes a lot.
AV grenades are being fixed to be AV only. Not sure what other AV weapons there are. |

If you get hit by a forge gun directly you deserved it. Get smarter about your location and positioning. |

As a Scout, I can get one-shotted by a lucky near-miss with a Forge Gun if I'm not using my expensive kit.
But as a Scout, if I'm staying still long enough that it wasn't a lucky shot, it's my own fault I got hit with that Forge Gun. |

Low rof is the balancer here. Sure if they hit you, you die. But if they miss you are free to wipe the floor with them while they try to charge up that shot again. |

I guessing you're talking about the forge gun, but they are easy to combat. Listen for the charge and before it discharges just jump because they will most like aim it at your feet. All the while get close to the them because close quarters a heavy's turning speed makes them an easy kill. |

The forge gun is terrible for anti-infantry, but I admit that I use every now and again... I just love watching the body fly after i a put a forge round through their face |

lock on with a forgegun? Why would i use tthen a swarm launcher? Also on a Assault dropsuit they need to hit you twice with the splash damage if you didnt killed them until the guy charged up his forgegun a second time you deserve to die. |
