I'm not sure if this is a good idea or a bad one, please let me know. As I was playing I encountered many people using anti-vehicle weapons as a primary weapon to battle with, rather than an assault rifle, submachine gun, or sniper rifle. The shear power of anti-vehicle weapons are very great, but they are that way for a purpose. As stated in their name, they are anti-vehicle weapons, meaning they are ment to destroy or damage vehicles. It is known that vehicles have vast's amount of amour and shields. Logically, a weapon would need a lot of power to damage or even scratch these heavily protected vehicles. This is why anti-vehicle weapons are tanked with so much power and I think it is for the better. But, when a person can use that power to easily kill a merc with just one shot, it seems to give people an advantage over others. This disrupts the "flow" of the game. Meaning that every merc is supposed to have a specific job to overcome the other team, whether it be skirmish or any other game type. It's the sync or flow of all the different mercs working together that make overcoming another team possible and what separates this game from many. If one or even everyone can just use weapons that kill easily with one or in a few shots, then what is the point of having all the different merc when everyone can easily rack up kills with just one.
Many people think the solution to this problem is to just nerf them and be done with it. This poses many problems. Nerfing the anti-vehicle weapons will make the point of the weapons useless because they won't be able to kill a vehicle and in-turn make people not use them because what would be the point if they couldn't kill anything or if they were very hard to kill with. My solution to this problem is to make the anti-vehicle weapons lock on fire only. If they are lock on fire only, then there purpose is still fufilled and one person cannot be a dominator on the battlefield. Anti-vehicle weapons will be used more for there purpose, rather than as a light weapon. Another solution might be if the anti-vehicle weapons stayed as a free fire weapon, but have reduced ammo capacity, so a person could not rule the battlefield the whole game. Maybe have a mixture of both lock on fire only anti-vehicle weapons with a good amount of ammo and a free fire anti-vehicle weapons with limited ammunition.
These are just my suggestions, let me know what you think. If there are any flaws, any better solution, or you think they are fine just the way they are please let me know, thank you. |
