Like I said in the title, I'm totally aware that nothing's set in stone yet, but from what I've played of the beta, this game is all but impossible for brand new players coming into it. That may well be simply because everyone is playing on a few maps right now, but I'm simply curious: can we expect some "hi-sec" type battlefields in the final product, where new players can be matched according to their K/D ratio or something of the like?
As of right now, I don't see any way to advance my character other than losing over and over and over until I amass enough skill points and ISK to grind one more skill level and buy one more weapon, until I finally cross... whatever threshold and I can actually be hit more than once without dying. I will readily admit I'm not the best at shooters and I never will be. But the way things are set up currently makes this game downright uninviting to any new players in my opinion. I don't know anyone who wants to just stand around and get shot at in any online match until they've "paid their dues" and they can buy weapons and armor that give them a chance in hell of staying alive.
Thoughts, anyone? |

They've said there will be a matchmaking system for hi-sec, so you don't run into this kind of thing. |

The beta's focus on active SP means that anyone who isn't playing every available day is falling behind. Once skill progression slows down, the community should hopefully stratify a bit less. (Though once they inevitably do, the hi/low sec matchmaking systems should keep fresh meat from getting stomped like they are now.) |

Last weekend was my 3 week beta testing.Yes at first it was daunting but this game isnt really all about "hey I should play a match just to grind so I can unlock the gear".I get on and can be thinking and reading about skills and how I want to put my guy together for almost as much time as I play.I have a 1.4 and Im not going negative anymore(in Matches).
The grinding in the end will make you feel a since of accomplishment when you get there, like a veteran and no longer a rookie. Its what makes the leveling that much more greater and gives your character....character.
