I have no idea what theater mode is, but I think there should be some sort of spectator mode for making things like recruitment videos. It would hard to implement without spies all over the place, though. Maybe you could only spectate members of your corp or spawn as a camera drone that can be destroyed by the enemy or something. |

What the hell are you people talking about?
>Minimum/Maximum Rank Requirements Since when is DUST going to have a ranking system? Hopefully there is some sort of win/loss ratio for corps and stuff so EVE players can figure out who to give a contract to, though.
>Map I'm sure you'll be able to see which planet the battle is on. How much the planets and their districts will vary is still up the air AFAIK.
>Game Mode Of course
>Score & Score limit What? So far the "score & score limit" is "is everybody/the MCC dead?" and "kill everybody/the MCC," respectively.
>Maximum Amount of Players >How many players are currently within Again, of course. How else do you plan on organizing which district to fight in?
>Region What? CCP's servers. That's the region. :|
>Mic availability I would think you yourself know whether or not you have a mic...
>Ping Good to know, I guess.
>Whether or not it is UCRR (User Created Ranked Room) or ORR (Official Ranked Room) User-created "rooms?" Oh, hell no. Letting random players host things is a horrible idea.
>Name of server Why have a tab that just says "Tranquility" over and over?
Other comments: >He's complaining about giving the match-creators power. I don't think EVE players are going to be watching the actual battle unless they jump in with DUST. Also, if I'm in a command position and someone on my team is being completely ******* useless or awoxing, you bet your ass I'm gonna want to kick him, provided CCP allows that. I'm sure it could be as simple as deactivating their clone reserves or something. |

You realize this is a persistent universe MMO, right? Most of the things you mentioned don't really fit with that. I am curious about how region is going to be handled, though. If I'm in a fight with Russians and on a Russian server, then they'll have an unfair advantage. |

It's very helpful to the game, and considering at the end of the day you are going to be playing on "servers" whether or not UCRR or ORR you will need some basis of information. Whether this means -- PvP, PvE -- makes no difference. You could be exploring, salvaging, or fighting a battle. Knowing what and which servers are doing are essentials. This has nothing to do with a game being an MMO infact. You would not take a job without a contract right? Same applies here. I'm not walking into something without knowing what I am going to be getting into.
Seriously? What games have you played? Call of Duty? This is not the quick join leagues, or match making whims of sparkles. Even most MMO games have server information.
This is basic stuff really.
I dunno. The way you mention score, rank, user-created rooms, etc makes it seem very CoD-ish. For PvE and maybe meaningless highsec battles, sure, you should definitely pick a server that you'll have less latency in. Save some stats on a KB of some sort? Sure. Separate people by their SP in those meaningless highsec matches? No harm, no foul.
But in nullsec, none of that applies if DUST is going to tie into sov. If a planet needs to be taken/defended, then I have no power over the location of the server or the SP of the guys I'm playing against. Do you see what I mean now? |

Rorek IronBlood wrote:... I'm going to facepalm this posting, and move on. My advice to you? Play some games. There is an obvious notion you lack information. Especially when you made the whole Call of Duty comment. Oh yeah.
Seriously though this is all basic stuff, and nothing new. Server selection, and information is pretty common place especially outside the realm of home entertainment consoles. I'll just let someone else afford the effort to break this down for you. I have not the patience today.
As for EVE Online granted it's basically one combined server made up of an entire server farm which essentially holds the entire New Eden galaxy, and it's players. However outside of little old EVE Online other games run different servers to help cut down lag, latency, and other issues. Not just other areas. If you want I'll list games that do just this. Oh wait I have. Even KILLZONE2 had basic information.
Sheesh... I still don't think you're quite comprehending what kind of game DUST is. |
