I really like the tight and precise controls of Killzone 3 (and I heard KZ2 had similar controls, albeit a bit slower), the way the guns feel, the weighty, yet fluid and quick movement, the stealth moves, even the jumping, and hit detection is spot on. And the game runs at 30fps which is a good compromise given the many indicators and objective-based elements it has to deal with on top of the FPS mechanics.
I think Dust could learn a lot from the KZ series and incorporate some of those elements into the game.
Imagine Dust with KZ-like mechanics AND the metagame of the EVE universe, this game would be one of the best games of all time!

They're only giving us things they need a lot of people to test. For example, balance, which will be a huge part of the game.
In short, I can see that for release, the game's mechanics will be properly sorted, as will aesthetics and graphics.
Really, they have people from DICE?? Awesome, they make one of the best multiplayer FPS games out there, along with Guerilla Games (who made KZ games).
I think CCP needs to demonstrate that improved build with better FPS mechanics soon to convince hardcore skeptics like myself that their FPS gameplay will be AAA as they claim.
In my opinion they only have a few months to do that and then the fall gameextravaganza wave will roll over DUST 514 and bury it in the depths until next spring and summer, when people will again be looking for their next objective, teamplay FPS... |

I check in once in a while to see if they have a new map and to see if frame rates are better, etc. Hopefully their August 'release' will be more fluid. I just find it hard to test things out when I don't enjoy myself because of poorly executed FPS gameplay (at this stage). |
