This, and quite possibly 48 player battles in future, or higher, although if it were 1000 Vs 1000 that wouldn't mean it would be better and could be worse.
Also, can we please get away from trying to hold developers to previously existing genre definitions? If you want the same game over and over with little to no innovation that's the best way to do it. CCP are breaking the mould with Dust (as they did with EVE), so demanding they keep to the status quo (why?) is at best blinkered.

Beta bud.. where testing what ever CCP needs us to. If they boost it upto 24 v 24 we will test that and so on and so on. |

what mold are they breaking? socom, resistance, mag all have higher max player counts on ps3, i'm sure im missing more.
are they breaking the vehicular warfare mold on console? is that what your referring too?
or are they breaking the least amount of players on an mmo game? seriously only a couple hundred playing this beta with over 20k invites lol |

Well as for the match sizes they'll increase without a doubt. It's just the current build inhibiting the size increase. I'm sure though that CCP wants to do controlled enviroments too though, and server stress tests. It's all about the numbers behind the curtain(s). I would certainly agree though in that I want to see the match sizes increase as soon as possible, but I also want things to work, and work well. So I will gladly wait for CCP to do as they need if it means a higher quality of game, and a better experience upon release for everyone. |

They were testing 64-player games in-house a couple of weeks ago, according to a few sources on these forums.
And it's not just the individual battles that matter in DUST, it's the interaction between them. There will be multiple districts spread across the surface of a planet that you're fighting on, with each battle having an effect on not only that planet, but on the status of the corporations involved in the battle, the effects of which can be seen throughout the star system, and beyond. |

Hey, if you don't like the game, think it's unoriginal, lacks innovation or it's player count isn't big enough for you, why are you hanging around it's forums and laughing it up? Plenty of other games and forums you could be trying out. |

He's right. We need the bigger groups, and more importantly, we need grouping. Regardless as to what the CCP fanboys think, this needs to be tested during the beta at some point.
Using "beta" as an excuse all the time, or saying "CCP said it will be in game" is stupid.
It needs to actually be implemented, into the beta to make sure it works as intended. This goes for 24v24, this goes for grouping, this goes for all the things that are still missing from what is supposed to be a release build.
Over the years there have been countless developers that promised stuff in a game, and never delivered.
I'm not complaining that it hasn't been implemented yet, I'm just saying P has a right to ask for it. |

I'd perhaps agree (and would about grouping, which he didn't mention at all), but I don't think that 24v24 or higher would satisfy him. The MMO part of the game is more about a persistent universe with tens of thousands of players taking part - that's what makes it massive, not how many people you have in individual battles. Ignoring that and demanding unspecified numbers in a pretty lazy OP isn't my idea of a reasoned argument such as the one you outlined. You made a better OP than he did.
Also, how can this be considered a release build when there's no release date and CCP have already announced a new build sometime next month (or thereabouts)? |
