I've got three Eve Online accounts spread out in all forms and ways. Trust me when I say that I've got my fair share of politics and frankly, I'm not interested in being someone's bootstrap at the bottom of the totem pole.
What does this mean? I'm looking for a corp that isn't part of your insane political pre-release recruitment scheme. Null-sec alliances be damned, I intend to be a true mercenary with no ties to any one alliance just because I have been with them for 'x' months/years on my Eve account.
So, I've created this thread both for myself and anyone else who wishes to join a non-Eve Alliance controlled corporation that isn't too keen on ties.
What I'm also -NOT- interested in, is your pissant MAG guild (yes, I mean that with the utmost disrespect) coming in with no knowledge of Eve Online what-so-ever trying to invade a new MMO Shooter.
So here's the criteria:
- Must not be affiliated with any player entity in Eve Online.
- Must have some knowledge of Eve Online, thereby not a BF/CoD/MAG clan porting to a different game.
- Some level of tactical stability; I'm not looking for friends or family, I'm looking for like-minded individuals who are in it for what it's all about: ISK.
- Think outside of the box. I don't care for your cookie cutter fits and EFT warrior non-sense. Numbers don't mean anything on the field.
I'll think of some more later. If you're looking for something congruent/similar to what I'm looking for, feel free to post. -Shrug.- |

There's already a long list of corps starting up with the majority if not all of them being unassociated with any significant EVE group. |

I do feel that politics will become an integral part of the game, so you may find it a little difficult to play whilst completely disregarding this part of the game. The profitable contracts will also (most likely) come from these Corporations that you look at with such disdain, and accepting these contracts will essentially make you their "boot strap".
I'm guessing that your post was intentionally aggressive, and it's your prerogative to make such posts. However you have pretty much told the majority of the Playerbase in the Beta that you don't wnat anything to do with them, and you have also given off the impression that you are quite an arrogant and aggressive individual (this is my personal opinion), this could put of the Players that you are aiming to play with off involving themselves with you.
It's quite the naive approach to stereotype Players from their background, you will most likely find that there are Players whom are from these backgrounds that you would have a good time playing with.
Either way, good luck in finding people to join your "cause". |

Looking at it in the wrong light, but I forgive you as most people do. I am, by nature, aggressive. You move "homes" six or seven times in Null-sec and you have a tendency to have a very fine line of disdain for those that you usually consider lessers.
Players from other FPS games? I don't welcome them that much, they've not the slightest clue of the inner workings of Eve Online and the only thing they've ever known is rankings and battlelogs. They've no idea what they're getting into with persistent territories and globally changing economies, and while I'd imagine some of them might be able to graduate, adapt, and evolve to that point over time - I don't have the patience to deal with it as of current.
Accepting contracts is what a mercenary does, being a boot strap is the essence of what they are, but I'm not going to do it permanently for any one alliance/corporation because 'x' reason and 'y' circumstance. I'm looking for a corporation in which a mercenary -IS- a mercenary, not a clone trooper for a larger alliance operating under their wishes and paid by being loyal.
Hope that explains things a bit better. |

I guess that's the problem with communicating by text rather than speaking to someone (as it's much easier to misinterpret written statements). I'm not too sure what you are getting at by most people "forgiving me", but it doesn't really matter.
I guess your opinions towards social etiquette differ to mine. I try and treat everyone as equals and treat them with the respect that I would expect in kind. Obviously there are exceptions to that rule, but I usually have a very good reason for doing so.
You seem like an intelligent person, which is why it's such a shame that you have such a stance towards certain Players. I have never played EVE and come from MAG, so in that regard I am one of those Players that you would look "down upon". However I do understand the concept of meta gaming & in-game politics. Quite often I have been asked to act as a Liaison or Mediator in games that I have played in the past (both PC and PS3).
What I'm trying to say is perhaps your opinions should be based on your personal experiences with Players, rather than sticking to a generic stereotype. |

Now that I'm properly drunk on Vodka I'm going to respond to this in shrot by saying that you need to learn about eve's territorial stuff before I can give my respect to you; kdrs and ranking are fun and all but were fighting for territory not leaderboards lol |

Even tho I might not fully agree with you, I'm also looking for something like this. I'm not intrested in the politics of EVE, but I think this approach might allow it to happen even if it's not the intention.
I'd love the idea of a "pure merc corp" sold to the highest bidder, so to speak.
My role and playstyle is that of an annoying Scout, hitting, running, hacking, supporting and once in a while killing things. Mostly staying in the background.
I'll keep an eye on this thread.

I have to quote parts of what you and question something important here...

Does that first part invalidate your claim to the second, thus making you ineligible to join your own corp? I've had an interest in EVE for many years, thanks to a friend I no longer have contact with, and I've had an interest in DUST since I first hear about it. I've never played EVE. It sounds like I have less investment in the politics of EVE than you.
I WILL keep you in mind, along with a couple of other corporations that are looking interesting at this early stage, but for now, I'm not committing to anyone, because I have a lot of friends I've met both irl and through other games who Imay be convincing to join me In New Eden post-release. |

Makes a good point, even if your just a grunt with no desire to learn Eve politics, you'll learn em sooner or later from discussing with your corp. Wow... Don't even remember responding to you guys last night, haha.
At any rate; I love that this thread exploded while I was asleep. Lot of opportunities here it seems. Yes, I meant that I don't even want to be affiliated with my corp/alliance in Eve Online - I've got enough of their politicking with my Eve Online account and I don't want to be tied down to any one alliance or coalition. True mercenary work is something I've always wanted to do but never been able to fully accomplish in Eve Online; so considering beta access is such an early start (so to speak) Dust is a great way to look for opportunities and prospects and be in an entity that rises to the top later on.
I'll check out all of the corporations and I sincerely hope that others are interested in Merc-Work as well; takes a certain type of person to be tied down to a single null-sec alliance and lately that hasn't been me. |
