I do feel that politics will become an integral part of the game, so you may find it a little difficult to play whilst completely disregarding this part of the game. The profitable contracts will also (most likely) come from these Corporations that you look at with such disdain, and accepting these contracts will essentially make you their "boot strap".
I'm guessing that your post was intentionally aggressive, and it's your prerogative to make such posts. However you have pretty much told the majority of the Playerbase in the Beta that you don't wnat anything to do with them, and you have also given off the impression that you are quite an arrogant and aggressive individual (this is my personal opinion), this could put of the Players that you are aiming to play with off involving themselves with you.
It's quite the naive approach to stereotype Players from their background, you will most likely find that there are Players whom are from these backgrounds that you would have a good time playing with.
Either way, good luck in finding people to join your "cause". |

Players from other FPS games? I don't welcome them that much, they've not the slightest clue of the inner workings of Eve Online and the only thing they've ever known is rankings and battlelogs. They've no idea what they're getting into with persistent territories and globally changing economies, and while I'd imagine some of them might be able to graduate, adapt, and evolve to that point over time - I don't have the patience to deal with it as of current.
Accepting contracts is what a mercenary does, being a boot strap is the essence of what they are, but I'm not going to do it permanently for any one alliance/corporation because 'x' reason and 'y' circumstance. I'm looking for a corporation in which a mercenary -IS- a mercenary, not a clone trooper for a larger alliance operating under their wishes and paid by being loyal.
Hope that explains things a bit better.
I guess that's the problem with communicating by text rather than speaking to someone (as it's much easier to misinterpret written statements). I'm not too sure what you are getting at by most people "forgiving me", but it doesn't really matter.
I guess your opinions towards social etiquette differ to mine. I try and treat everyone as equals and treat them with the respect that I would expect in kind. Obviously there are exceptions to that rule, but I usually have a very good reason for doing so.
You seem like an intelligent person, which is why it's such a shame that you have such a stance towards certain Players. I have never played EVE and come from MAG, so in that regard I am one of those Players that you would look "down upon". However I do understand the concept of meta gaming & in-game politics. Quite often I have been asked to act as a Liaison or Mediator in games that I have played in the past (both PC and PS3).
What I'm trying to say is perhaps your opinions should be based on your personal experiences with Players, rather than sticking to a generic stereotype. |
