i am aware of the nerf comming but with that going into effect and most of us will see no purpose of fitting them anymore since they will have no purpose, is it quite possible we could get another form of explosives similar to an anti-tank mine or for dropships a sorta bouncing betty varient would be rather cool to see. something like placing down the mine and within a selected distance if a dropship gets close a projectile pops up out of the ground and locks onto the dropship. the nerf for the RE's will greatly reduce the effectiveness of anti vehicle fittings with higher fitted tanks. |

Things like Proximity Mines (like your suggesting) will come out with the full game, CCP won't give everything away in the beta. |

They will still be ok to use you just wont be able to abuse them and be better than grenades are . |

AV grenades are becoming semi-guided in the next build as well.
That might help just a little bit. |

Devs posted it somewhere in general discussion.
They activate if close to a vehicle, but otherwise, don't activate. They also guide themselves towards the vehicle.
I think there was mention of a damage buff, too, as they didn't have to worry about using AV grenades for anti-personnel. |

of course just throwing it out there that maybe get the gears flowing on an idea just dont want a specialist class getting a massive chunk of their armaments nerfed |

i highly doubt that againts the elite tank fits ive seen recently, its really hard to see though if the new changes in the build will complement the nerf. |

People using remote explosives as grenades which are far better than grenades will no longer get the same usage out of remote explosives in the future, this is true. I think an option they could go for is to give turrets a high resistance to incoming projectiles, but to make them very vulnerable to remote explosives. In Battlefield 2 I remember the recon kit could actually get a lot of mileage out of using C4 to sabotage commander assets like artillery and so forth. It'd be nice if remote explosives found a place as saboteur devices to some extent in Dust.
Beyond that they'll still be useful as trap devices I guess. |
