hey guys, its been a few weeks since i raised a post, and i know some of the things that i may be saying in this one have been brought up already, but i wanna gripe away in one post, rather than refer to any previous ones i have dont that will by now be spread throughout the forums.
what happened?
i think releasing the militia vehicles this early in the process was kind of a bad move. you didnt even balance the stuff that we were already using properly and now you have totally put the games pace and balance our of whack! the map that you have chosen for us to try this on is far too far. when the scale of the matches is increased...i dare say that would kinda accomodate the number of tanks and dropships (dropship by the way becoming the new melee weapon for everyone to use) that we are seeing today. plus...the who sales pitch of this game was that you invest in your stuff....and if you lose it.....you have really lost something. militia vehicles is not the way to back up that message. and with the number of people who are just flying solo in the dropship to ram people or use it ONLY to get on top of towers.....it ruins our vision of what that vehicle is supposed to be, and im sure yours too, regardless of how creative the thinking is to use it in that manner (which is kinda creative...but a tad dumb....but hey, its free right? who needs brains when you know you have an unlimited number of chances to totally eliminate the teamwork aspect of the game and just playing COD in your mind with the only thing mattering to you being your K/D ratio)
now for the obvious stuff, so feel free to scroll down a bit....
-the spawn camping has been a HUGE problem for a good little while now. i cant imagine the guys at e3 playing the game woulda been all that chuffed with it either. i played a match today. 8 kills/17 death. 11 of those deaths were spawn camp kills. i know you could probably fix it, but until it is fixed....this is just not fun or acceptable anymore for the amount of time its been like this. there has to be a way to fix it. i have seen suggestion for temp barrier of impenetrability. good idea. a tad "god mode for 5 seconds" but its on the right line. there has to be a new eden equivalent.
-there are more people on comms than their used to be, which is good. however....does anyone else have people not hearing them? i know my mic works, i use it for my pc, and my ps3 or other games. why can no one hear me on DUST514? is this a known issue? anyway, my point....its really good to see/hear people on the comms. however, there are still so many people not on comms. is there anyway that people can be made aware of the function besides it being in the options? i mean even if they are just listening, its still a tad closer to running as a tighter unit in game. perhaps an "always on" for the comms. this game is about the teamwork. uniting for the greater good against the enemy, aiming for that mutual goal. that is all the reason i would say this is a good idea. people need to know whats going on....or the team will collapse. or perhaps...always on for corp battles (low sec, null sec) in the future due to the importance of the role and an option for hi sec stuff? hi sec guys i dare say would be the more "drop in now and again to pop a few heads" kinda players. the guys in low and null will be the ones who are there to leave their mark in new eden with their unit/corp.
of course, weapon balance (SMG's are waaaaaay to accurate at range) and things like that are mentioned so much, i dont need to explain much more.
but my biggest gripe. CCP....you said no pay to win. you said AURUM give you more of a side-grade rather than an upgrade potential...keeping it a level playing field for all and no definitive advantage given to anyone with AURUM purchased items.....
....why, oh why?! do i see electronics upgrades (for example) to buff damage of light weapons, the ISK purchased one giving a 5% increase in damage and the AURUM purchased (in the same section) giving 10%! whats going on here? how is that fair? Hell, David Reid has said it millions of time to anyone he speaks to "Dust514 is not a pay to win game" and other comments that state that no one can buy an advantage?
when i add all these things together in my mind....there was only ever one other time when i was this unhappy at CCP and really infuriated that you might be taking a game in a bad direction. it wasnt that long ago...and any EVE capsuleer will remember it as "the INCARNA incident". you guys rushed, got a tad careless (maybe through some pressure from the bigger people) and you released stuff that got our hopes up for months....and then it wasnt quite what you promised....or what YOU wanted it to be.
Please dont INCARNA DUST514 :( sit back, take a breath. its a beta....use the time wisely and remember your vision for what DUST514 is aswell as ours. there is middle ground. CRUCIBLE was that middle ground. it had stuff we all wanted in it and put new blood and hope back into EVE Online. just sit back...think of the little thing and dont roll out the big until its ready. This Plateau map was not ready for this many vehicles. Free vehicles are not an investment for the merc....nor are they a loss. This is your game aswell as ours. yeh sure, we will be playing it more than you....but you are the that will be wanting to sit back and take pride in how your have managed to take a vision, a technical turning point in gaming, and a two communities, merge them together and watch the good mayhem take place in what your created.
You guys had a vision, probably still do. we are not here to change that. it looks as if thats happening. we are here to add the spinkles and give feedback. we cannot dictate to you, and we shouldnt be able to. This game is turning into a fast a frantic shooter (on this current map being crammed with vehicles and spawn kills anyway) thats not cool.
remember, little things :) |

i get the point in the being a beta tester quite well.
at what point did i say someone was selling their services for payment, with that service being biological in nature? i was bringing up the fact that the example i gave in the original post is an example of pay to win. and the reason i raised that point is because im right. look through the market at the example i put forward and you will see.
...and then put that to what CCP have said since 2010 and you will realise that this doesnt quite add up.
and in reply to the attention seeking! HA! if i were...you would only entertaining me. and its not as if i post much in the forum anyway. attention seeking is far from the point. you must be rather over sensitive.
as for the militia vehicles...i learned something today. i didnt know they were a temporary testing measure. thanks for that :) it still puts off testing the who pace of the game, but hey, im sure they will get to that later in the process.
after all, i DO understand this is a beta, i HAVE seen CCP screw up in similar ways before with EVE and I DONT want them to do it again. the only way in past to make the devs aware of such things has been to post it in the forum. or....go through he CSM, but DUST514 (to my knowledge) doesnt have that yet. i have never needed to use the CSM as i have found the forums to be effective enough in the past...so why would i change the method?
"i know some of the things that i may be saying in this one have been brought up already, but i wanna gripe away in one post, rather than refer to any previous ones i have dont that will by now be spread throughout the forums." is what i wrote, you are right. however....i was supposed to write the following...
""i know some of the things that i may be saying in this one have been brought up already, but i wanna gripe away in one post, rather than refer to any previous ones i have FOUND that will by now be spread throughout the forums." (correction in caps)
as i said earlier, i havent done many posts in this thing since i started playing the beta about 8 weeks ago. attention isnt something i need, as im a happy bunny. what makes me unhappy is when someone doesnt stay to their word. whether it be companies, or people. it is annoying.
plus, if im not mistaken....a forum is where to bring up such things. im not gonna put sprinkles on my thoughts. i respect people who are open and honest with me without dressing up opinions or facts.....like your dig at attention seeking. i can totally see why you did that. however...i shall read over what i type in the future to make sure i dont make so many typo's that can be taken wrong.
and you are right, the little things in my post are what its all about, just like in anything. all my "little things" i wrote in my post angered you in someway, or caused a negative reaction. not sure why...its just words. anyway...i apply the same logic to the game. the little things are little and you may well be a bit annoyed that i bring them up because "hey, their just little thing, its fine" until the point where the little things arent fixed, and cause bigger problems. EVE online is an example of where they have done this before and although i have faith in CCP learning from past experience (the past 12months or so being a great example of that) seeing tell-tale signs of the past waranted recognition. and it was constructive. i said i was gonna gripe, but i backed everything i said with proof. so if anything, i lied at the start of my post by saying i was going to gripe.
my bad......but i stand by what i said as im sure you do aswell. |

Seeker needs to find the definition for the world that he was explaining. i am no "easy rider" for attention...i think you have your definition wrong here boyo. lets see how may more synonyms we can find shall we? you appear to find this fun! i like fun *backhanded clap in your face* being personal is just wrong man. but as you have brought it to that level already...its a game! get a life, or get laid boyo!
as for the rest of you. thanks for the info. im on the forums every few days reading through...but there are loads of posts and of course i must have missed some stuff somewhere. and even if i managed to keep up with it....i would need to go back to the start and keep up again :P
i sure hope they dont have free vehicles. There would be no sense of loss or investment on the player or the corp scale of the game. as for the side grades thingy. i was looking in the advanced section. at least im pretty sure it was. there was AUR puchases in there with 10% buff on damage. when putting that against the ISK puchases in that same section, which were the 5% buffs, i was wondering why? i understand thought that the proto gear has next to no difference other than the name between the ISK and AUR items. which is fine. kinda wonder thought why have the better stuff in the adv section though :S didnt make sense to me. thats kinda why i was questioning it. do those items really belong there? am i right thats its easier to train for the AUR gear than the ISK gear aswell. im sure somewhere in the market (cant remember what section, maybe more than one) i cant use the ISK items in the proto section....but i can use the AUR ones.
kinda makes me think that AUR items are the quick progression, but everyone can get to the same level....eventually if they dont use AUR. would that be more accurate?
you are right in thinking that we will eventually be able to get everything for ISK. i completely forgot about that lol |
