Ok, with your proposed system, how do you turn around to shoot at something behind you? With what you're proposing, you'd have to turn your back to your TV, not that the move controller would work that way in the first place.
There's a reason no one has done this, because it simply wouldn't work. |

You're not understanding the problem. The controller stays in one place, when you hit hard to one side, the input keeps going, similar to how the moving crosshairs hit one side of the screen and turn you now. If anything, the way the move system is currently implemented is like the controller more than what you're asking for.
The problem is the way the move works. You're standing in front of a camera with a limited field of view. Imagine that as a cone extending from the camera lens. Move outside of that cone, and you're no longer being tracked because the camera can no longer see you. Now, with that concept in mind, imagine the following situation:
You spawn, turn to the left, your view perfectly tracks with the movement of the move controller... until you go outside the field of view. You can't turn left anymore. Once you return to the field of view, you can now only turn right. At least you can until you hit the edge of the field of view again. You're now trapped there, only able to view about a 60 degree cone in front of you. Walk across the map, but you can only turn so much, and never ever look behind yourself because there's no way for the camera to pick that up.
That's what linking the sensed position to the actual movement of your game view would cause. The only way to get around this is to map 180 degrees of movement within the MUCH more confined area the camera can view you, or a number of other oddities that completely disassociates the movement of the controller being related to movement in the game. You've hamstringed the entire point of using a move controller at that level of tinkering, and have made something so unwieldy that no one would want to use it.
Simply put, what you want would require a head mounted display and a lot more sophisticated tracking than the move system allows for.
edit: a simple way of thinking about this would be to play a FPS on the computer, on a tiny mouse pad and not be able to pick the mouse up and move it to the other side to keep turning in one direction. Try that, and you'll get a feel for why what you're asking for is broken. |

Yeah, and there's no real way to fix it within the restraints of the technological limitations. Short of releasing a console that comes with goggles, we aren't going to be seeing that level of immersion.
I agree with you though, if it could work, it'd be awesome. |

I'm confused Blu. You quoted my post explaining why it doesn't work to tell me that it's been tried and doesn't work? I know, I just said it.
Basically, I'm at a loss as to what you're trying to tell me here. Care to elaborate? |

I think agreeing with yourself on 2 different accounts that are obviously related is a little disturbing. |
