do you snipe? or are you a dev for dust 514? this could be worth the read if you are either :).
well.. i Dl'd dust a few days ago.. got on the game for the first time tonight. and after playing the game for 6-7 hours i noticed a few things.. at first i raged at how the scope is extremely sway'ey until i figured out you have to be patient, an awesome drawback for the sniper i'll be expecting to see in future title's such as blackops 2. etc.
HOWever. i think the dust 514 crew have over nerfed the sniper within consideration to the addition of heavy's. heavy's description is that: they can take alot more "small-arms fire". which, i would class as assault rifle's smgs and pistols.. not shotguns/ snipers. im saying this because i've been hitting heavy's in the head.. and they just chew the bullet up, spit it out, and run for cover until their HP refills. (frustrating). then pop out with their what tends to be a forge gun and one shot you from the same distance. (even more frustrating)
but thats not all, with heavy's taking 4-6 shots snipers are practically useless vs them if the right module's are used on the heavy's class.
so, i propose a notion that 1 of 3 things be added to the sniper. i'll give pro's and cons to each.
just for reference the amount of shots roughly to kill a class: (no headshots) logistics: 2-3 assault : 2-3 scout: 1-2 heavy: 4-6
1. increase bullet damage ( not a fan of this...)
p: would solve the dastardly heavy's OP'ness. c: would unbalance the odd's vs logistics and assault classes
2. increase bullet dmg ONLY after a player's shields are down. an added bonus to snipers which means extra dmg wouldnt allways be applied.
p: would solve heavy issue, as it only take's 1 shot to remove shield, which, co-incedently it only take's 1 shot on assault/logitics. meaning heavy's will go down easier under sniper fire, but other classes will remain unaffected.
c: i... actually cant think of one? so long as it doesn't work on vehicle's i dont think there is a con.
3. increase ammo capacity of all sniper's by +2. meaning a previous 3 shout would become a 5.
p: means you dont have to wait, reload and find the guy who is surely now in cover, refilling his hp gauge if it hasnt allready. doesnt really solve the issue with heavy's, but gives a sniper more of a chance vs groups of logis/assault's. (not solving our problem...)
c: snipers can now effectively just "spray" when in close combat.
i'd love to hear some other opinions on this, maybe i can inspire someone to come up with something more reasonable?
and.. can i just say, i'm really keen on #2 ( dmg bonus when shields are down)

just like to add, great game, great fun, my only other thing to add is, please add a function to play smaller sized teams, as that should solve the majority of the lag issue's people are encountering :).

im using the NT-511 203 dmg per shot..
which is only 30-40 less dmg than charge.. but doesnt have as slow a rate of fire..
i dont think it'd make much difference between what snipers im using.. only reason im using this over the militia is +2 ammo capacity per clip. |

let me type you an extract.

sniper's are classed as "small arms fire" but they are on a whole different level compared to rifle's pistols and shotguns when it comes to:
a: impact power b: velocity c: penetration.
now, if a barret 50 cal. can go through one side of a tank, and straight out the other.. why shouldnt snipers on here be able to penetrate a heavy's helmet? a heavy, which i'd class as a light vehicle on legs.
the title said constructive criticism only. im not asking for a guide or for you too look down on me.

tanks are OP, heavy's were created to balance that out, and not make this game another BF3.

The ability to use your fit trumps class, bucko - there are no "classes" here Because heavies with forge guns can't run or turn for shite? All over the world, kid - still got to set foot on Antartica to hit all 7 continents Not flaming - you don't want me to start pouring gas on your little fire here. Just because it doesn't OHK every single suit in the game does not make the sniper rifle under powered - you are just using it poorly. tanks are fine, quit trying to blow them up with a sniper rifle - use a forge gun, or the Anti-Vehicle grenades you should be carrying (weird, them same AV grenades wipe heavies out fast......) Your sniper rifle is NOT an ideal weapon for taking out a Heavy armor suit - if you are in a scout or assult suit, you can however, run rings around him while you pick him apart...... heavies have a horrid turning speed. Come to think of it, their run speed is pretty awefull too, especially when you fit more armor HP. Next time, try logical thought instead of being pissed you can't one hit kill EVERY suit in the game.

why's everyone saying OHK? nobody in this thread has asked for anything to be One hit killable.
the point is heavy's take 4-6 shots to kill, (more than any sniper clip) and when shot in the head it doesnt do anything for you.

in response to all your posts... your a troll who doesnt deserve a reply, "other than more dmg", no.. damage on sniper is fine, any more and they'd be over powered, more dmg isnt what im looking for by creating this thread, its the ability to take down non-shielded opponents easier with sniper's.
stonermoney: loool, those moments are awesome with a sniper. "dropship SQUISH" LOL!.
i also think that the towers which you can only get on-top of with dropships, "or the MCC itself" should be made un-accessable..
i hate seeing sniper's camped ontop of those things like little nublets, or even the dropships themselfs with rockets..
