So I started to play the game only this weekend and I must say I'm pretty impressed. however, there are a few things that I hope they can be dealt with before release and a few things that I love to see them in action when they are implemented IF they can be implemented.
I'll start things off with my feedback on the pre-battle (Merc HQ): Now when I entered the game, I expected a lot of customization and fitting options because that's what EVE is famous for and that's exactly what I found. There are just a lot of customizations, though I was limited because my skills were pretty low since I just started playing the game, it was all there waiting for me to have the skill and the ISK to be able to use them in battle. I was pleased with the amout of equipment, modules, weapons, and dropsuits that are available and I'm sure more will come. I was also pleased to know that most of the things found in the market can be purchased with the money that I earn from playing the game. I don't have to pay any extra money from my own pocket just to get something I can get later if I just put more time effort in the game. Not much to say about the market so far except for needing a few more items to spice things up in the future
Then, there is the pre-battle lobby that we enter before the game. For some reason I feel that it's not much needed. I mean you can find the market, you can find the fitting you can find almost everything but you don't have much time to do most of these things and not to mention that you probably have to manage your squad too. I'm not saying that this should totally removed as it probably serves some other technical purpose, like giving the game a chance to load the textures needed to create the map for the game before it starts, other thing in the background. As I said don't use it that much so I feel like not much needed which is a personal opinion.
Next up, the battle phase: I saw the EVE Fanfest, and I saw how the battle starts in the beginning of pretty much every game and one question came in my mind: Where are the Dropships? Now I know this might like sound like a kid asking for a useless feature, but I remember when I saw the video - which announced DUST514 for the first time I believe-where the game actually makes sense in the way the battle starts in it. We are immortal Mercs, working for a corporation, and we're dropping in on an enemy territory with dropships, and installations that belong to us also drop down with us from the sky.-áWe are the attacking force here which means we don't live on this planet. We we drop, deploy, and attack.-á Personally I think the concept was already in their heads when they created the game however the hardware specs of the PS3 prevented them from executing the concept so they had to take it out. If the dropship sequence can really appear in the game, that would be a very nice addition to the start the Battle. Now the battle itself felt about right through my small time of testing. Assault-rifles strong at close range but they don't have the range or the damage that sniper rifles offer. Those militia weapons and equipment offer a starting point until you move to the big guns. I enjoyed my time with the game as a fan of FPS. However, the battle-áhas a few issues that I would like to point out in here:-á First when I use one of those stationary cannons, I see that there are people out there and I try to shoot them, only to find out they don't die because they're my team-mates. I'm not talking about team-kills because I know it is going to be activated later but the problem was that I never knew that they are on my side. They were at a far distance and there was nothing to tell me if they are friends or foes and I would end up shooting them. I wish this can be tweaked to prevent future team-killing. My second issue is spawn camping. Again please don't think that I'm a kid complaining about funny things. I played the game only for about five hours, but I can say that 35% of the times I died was because someone camping behind me, where I can't see him, shot me right after spawning in the same spot as I did 10 seconds ago. I played this skirmish mode only and I noticed that at the three checkpoints there were three spawn points for each one that never changed. Now this can be frustrating because these points can be exploited very easily, and then they can used to change the tide of the battle very easily as well. I heard that the spawn camping problem is already being fixed and I'm so happy for that and I sure hope that I see this change fast. One more request: please provide instructions for vehicle controls as it shows only infantry controls last time I checked. There was nothing on the LAV, HAV, or the dropship. Please add that as well. I'll add more feedback and suggestion as I go but thats all for now. Thank you! |
