Currently, the left control stick controls both the throttle and steering of the LAV. I would like to see this changed. It makes the LAV feel IMPOSSIBLE to drive. The controls should be one of two options.
Option A) Use the left stick for throttle only, and right stick should control the steering. That way would turn in the direction that your camera is facing. Only horizontal movement would effect the steering, vertical movement of the stick would still adjust the angle you are looking on the Y axis, but it wouldn't effect your driving. Anyone who has ever driven a Warthog in Halo knows how this control scheme feels. I personally really like that style, but some may not.
Option B) Use the left stick for steering only, and have the throttle be controlled by R1. The right control stick would effect the camera angle on both the X and Y axis, but would have no effect on your steering.
I do not like how the LAV's feel right now at all, so I don't drive them. I would however really like to drive them, as driving around in a zippy little vehicle with rockets being launched off the back is a hell of a lot of fun. Dev's, can anything like this be implemented? :) |

Well yes, I suppose I should've titled it differently. For players that like the current controls, the shouldn't get screwed just because I want it done differently. I just find that the LAV's are impossible to drive currently, turn to far to the left/right and suddenly you start slowing down. Having the acceleration and steering tied to the same control stick just feels awkward. It's like if you were driving your car, and rather than using the gas pedal for acceleration, you had to push the steering wheel forward. |

Doesn't seem to me that that thread has received Dev or GM input, and i have broken no rules by submitting a new thread on a more specific topic. That thread is on the LAV in general, and all of it's aspects. This is feedback on the controls, and only the controls. I would like to see input on optional control schemes for the LAV driver, and I'm currently unconcerned with the gunner and passenger positions. |
