Dropships are very hard to use. You can't stay still hovering in one area for more than 15 seconds with out having every AV weapon in that part of the map trained on you. It takes alot of skill and attention.

Protoman I challenge you to try to survive a game with any kind of dropship, but you can't just be flying around the whole map as fast as you can, you have to be trying to get kills for your gunner(s) and providing air support for team mates at contested objectives. Meanwhile, attempt to dodge countless swarm missles and forge gun shots, along with tank rail guns, then tell me how it takes no skill. I find my self being challenged more by drop ship piloting then by fighting on the ground with an AR.

Most of the time you are allready out of sight before a tank or a Turret installation gets the shot on you. And with some shield modifacations you can pretty much take alot of hits. Just a Example: Rush Objective while no 1 is around it, hack it, put remote explosives on the spawn and keep blowing up the spawners. And there you go easy kills and you took over a objective. Or you could just put a dropship on the B side spawn and take the objective and get instant kills.

I'm agree that HAV's are easy to use once fully outfitted, but I'm still going to say that dropships are the hardest vehicle in the game to use, because of the reasons listed. If you're not exactly challenged by the FPS part of the game(I'm not) I seriously recommend you try out drop ship piloting.

I occasionally fly the militia ships and use them to crush people when they hide in the back of the mountains when being redlined. Choppers in BF take much more skill to use than dropships in this game.

A good HAV crew will slaughter a bad HAV crew even if both are using the exact same fitting. They'll probably slaughter even while unsupported by their team and taking fire from infantry as well as the enemy HAV. LAVs are harder to use, but that doesn't necessarily make them as valuable in combat. HAVs are high-priority targets by their very nature. LAVs are frequently considered less dangerous than the Dropsuit(s) they're carrying.
