Kind of expected it to be different in some way's, but there are some interesting things that I like about this game but I'm Here to discuss the problem's I'v been having with the game from my little experience from playing the game,'' note I'v been playing the beta, and I know the game is a work in progress.
First I want to say the melee option in the game for knifing an opponent is way to slow! Might as well not be an option, also being able to knife wile reloading would be nice too. Cant tell you how many times I'v died because of how useless knifing is.
Jumping in the game does not work all the time, that is a problem i expect to be fixed though.
This may just be me, but the controls feel sluggish sometimes. Kind of like my games to be really fast past.
So Iv been dealing with people who like to spawn camp, I thought of a solution for that problem, When people spawn back in to a game, make sure there in a safe house with multiple ways out of the safe house, " at least more then 3 ways out, and they should be far apart. Or you can take the easy way out and just add more spawning locations, so the opponent can't really judge where you spawn next.
Menus in the game for buying goods and leveling up your character stats need to be improved allot ( I'm use to these kind of menus because i play allot of rpg's but shooter fans will not like how "not" easy it is to get, there should be a way to explain them without explaining them, the menus should be easy to get.
The character'a that people use actually needs to level up and let that unlock more good's in the market.
Didn't like how the Skill Points (SP) where used in the game. First thing wrong is ones you spend your skill points on something," you cant refund them and try something else". Another thing is they where hard to earn and they where different skill points and overall I was somewhat confused by them. Might as well make it simple for us and let ISK be apart of leveling up perks and improving are characters
Higher level characters are more powerful then low level characters, love this Idea but also hate it. I like the idea because I know my character is actually getting stronger, but really don't know how this can be done in a fair way. So low level characters can have a chance. Maybe they should be teamed up with higher level players, and maybe promote somewhat a buddy system so that one low level character doesn't get "Owned" and still be able to have a fighting chance.
Overall the game is decent, but not ground breaking, but sense its free to play I'm sold and I'm willing to play, and if I see more problems in the game that I don't like or think need improving, I'll make sure to say it here.

Going throw your lists of complaints I can't say I agree with anything you've said.
Knifing is weak because you need to improve it, and how the crap are you supposed to reload and knife at the same time you can't do both at once.
The menus are fine as is, if a person can't figure out how to navigate this games menus, then I doubt they would have enough patience to build up their characters skills anyways, making this game probably not for them.
The skill system is also fine as is, their is no need to "level up". You unlock the ability to use more weapons by upgrading certain things like weaponry, then buying books for those items.
You're going to hate the way the official release of this game handles SP because right now, we are actually earning pretty large sums of it, since there is a 4x multiplier on it right now. In the official release we will earn SP even slower. That's the way it's supposed to be. This is an MMO also, it's meant to take several years to fully upgrade you're character. Also being able to remove spent SP and put it somewhere else would make this game to easy, though I hear there is something like this in EVE, but handled in a way so people don't abuse it, like you can only change the things once every year or 6 months or something like that.
For the people that play more often, they'll receive less SP so that they don't fly ahead of the people that can't play every single day and are less powerful because of this. Also I'm hearing that they'll have areas were the newer people will be, like High Sec areas, while the players that have been around for awhile will be in low and nul sec areas. |

Also every 6 months is a new expansion which usually comes with new equipment new toys new ways of playing thus more skills, the 7 years to cap everything out wont be possible to keep up with likely.
Just think of the skill system this way. The ultimate build a soldier. You pick the skills, the gear, the armor, the weapons he needs and you perfect him to your taste.
Also disagree about high level players being signifcantly more powerful than starters. My proto assault gets killed by milita assault rifles more than any other weapon I can recall. My protosuit is about 125k a pop, the milita guy I mowed down... free. |

Spawn camping is already fixed in the version that the devs are playing with, there will be an update.
I think knife should cancel reloading, I agree its too slow.
I have no problem with skill point system, and I have no problem earning skill points, you will get better and be able to earn more skill points per match. A refund option would be nice, but the basic level you need to try the standard version of a weapon is pretty low anyway, so you don't lose much if it turns out you hate that weapon.
Jumping doesn't always work because it takes stamina, if you use up your stamina bar then you can't jump (or run). This is not a problem, its just how the game prevents people spamming bunnyhopping.
The menus and stuff are a bit complex, but I think anyone who puts in the time will be able to grasp it. An in game tutorial would be useful.
I don't see why the characters need to level up at all, just level up skills for the character, or buy new skills to use new stuff. Just because every shooter has that doesn't mean its actually essential.
The gameplay isn't groundbreaking to me, but it is fun. The real innovation is suppose to be in the MMO nature of the game, the persistence, and connection/interaction with EVE Online.

Knives have a skill adding damage bonuses. Without knifing skills, they are pretty useless. Besides, as mentioned by onlyelisha, who would you be able to reasonably expect to be able to knife and reload at the same time. You only have two hands!
Manny888 wrote:Jumping in the game does not work all the time, that is a problem i expect to be fixed though.
Actually, umping works all the time...if you have any stamina left. Look at the lower left corner when you sprint, you'll see a meter dropping, that is the Stamina. Some suits have more than others. And there are skills to boos it. However, jumping uses Stamina too...
Manny888 wrote:This may just be me, but the controls feel sluggish sometimes. Kind of like my games to be really fast past.
Adjust controller sensitivity in the NeoCon Options menu. Also, scouts are your choice if you want fast suits. Heavies are ... lethargic.

There are already a million (not really) suggestions, and CCP have already acknowledged that it is a problem they are looking to address. They tried in this build, but the problem is still present.

Tutorials, they are just not here yet. Besides, not all games should be easy.

They are. Skills unlock items.

Buying skill points? Hell no!
DUST, like EVE, runs on the concept that choices have consequences. And while a new character tend to do some mistakes, a little of everything, at least at lower levels, most figures out which direction to go, by looking at what others do in the game, and by trying the lower tier items first. The second and third characters tend to be far more focused. It takes time to learn, and in that you'll find a challenge. Games should be challenging.

Tiered battlegrounds and missions. Look at EVE, it's been 9+ years now, and new players are not slaughtered wholesale. They start out with a few NPC PvE missions to lean the controls. But even then you can break out of the sandbox, and start playing differently. Trust that CCP have a good idea to allow new players to get in and enjoy the game. The problem right now is that there are only a few maps to test on, meaning new and "old" get mixed rather thoroughly, which can be bad for new players in the beginning.

Interesting that people seem to think it is not ground breaking, because it is not like the others... |
