I apologize in advance if other players are offended that I am suggesting these twos ideas would be available via AUR - my opinions on why CCP should consider these services and other services as high ISK / AUR are at the end.
# 1 # - Does CCP have any known plans for a 'spectator mode' in DUST? Sometimes I just want to watch a match go down, and maybe learn something new, or laugh at the pwnage...this is a feature in other PVP games I have greatly enjoyed (DOTA2, SC2 for example)
Maybe as a marketing strategy charge ISK or AUR to access a 'remote viewing' station via your main merc quarters.
For example a spectator mode could be tied in as a role play element to the in game world as an ISK 'subscription' to a npc corporation in game that offers 'Remote Viewing' of battles in process or that have occurred over x time period. --- Either by allowing you to 'jump into' the camera view of other players live, or by just allowing you a free flying view of the battle as an invisible entity or drone.
A fixed rate of ISK or AUR for the service could be based upon the security level of space trying to be accessed for viewing. More expensive equipment is used to spy in lower security spaces, so it costs more. Or no viewing available for null sec, ie: some limitations would need to be set on the mechanics of spectating.
this seems like viable technology to be in the EVE universe, and I would like to see it in game as part of the package or something players can choose to invest in if they choose.
This remote viewing service could also allow you to save and download to your PS3 matches you've personally played for review, bundled with comprehensive statistics for that match. (see #2)
# 2 # Does CCP have any plans for the player to see a more detailed analysis for Kill / Death statistics. This idea could easily be tied into the game as a service offered by a npc corporation.
Currently, and I will use the term 'we' -- as anyone can see by investing lurking skills to level 5 in these forums - that 'we' really don't enjoy the current KDR stat page, it's lame. 'We' also don't enjoy the current deployment of experience, but that is another issue.
Will we see more 'truth' in the breakdowns of stats @ the end of the match? ie: Kills, Deaths, Assists, Hacks, Captures, Most killed by, Most killed, Total Damage done, Total damage taken, etc, etc, etc .
would players suggest CCP consider this also as an ISK/AUR service offered by a npc corporation? or do you demand this level of reporting as a free in game service. Either way, we should be able to get mail alerts with the breakdowns of our matches, offering graphs and pie charts so you can trend your 'life' a merc - find out what's working and what isn't.
# Conclusion # Both of these suggestions would simply be awesome as freebies to the general offerings of DUST. It also fits nicely into the economical 'universe' of the game that money gets you the guns, armor, ships, -- it (ISK / AUR ) should also be able to provide you with intelligence and the ability to analyze your own performance outside of basic KDR.
As a player of games who has no problem contributing to the game by voting for the success of the developers, (I'm talkin' dollar bills yo, cash money) -- I simply see no real value to paying for this game's currency outside of a single merc pack to get started.
Maybe you too like DUST, and you like CCP, so you want to pay them something for the efforts, so you get a merc pack, relish in the skill boost - but outside of skill boosters themselves, and since we, the game's players demand that the line between paying to win with AUR gear and earning it via ISK is so thin
CCP needs some sort of additional services that players would possibly pay for - that are not expensive in terms of real life money, and are not skill boosters. Something you wouldn't even think twice about paying a quarter for example to download your match as a replay because it was epic. Or you got screwed over in a scenario so hard that you it's bugging the **** out of you to not know how you just got ganked.
I imagine others like me will never buy AUR items outside of a very occasional skill booster on a binge night or an initial merc pack - and even then when SP Boosters seems to be the only reason right now to have AUR, past a certain SP gain, I may not have any reason to even support DUST via a few dollars a month.
flame on.

PS: TL;DR? - I wasn't talking to you anyways go troll a shorter thread. We're talkin' economics up in here G unit.

I seriously hope they do not put something like this into the game for the simple reason that it could be used to meta-game. Imagine for a moment, I spectate your match and on my PC, I am using mumble to relay your positions and tactics to your opponents. No, having the ability to watch after the fact would be acceptable, but not the ability to spectate a live match.

I agree, preventing any exploiting of spectator mode would need to be sorted out. |
