I seem to have a problem. A very serious problem.
I have recently had time on my hands and some extra money. I have been grinding the Beta like there is no tomorrow and have accumulated almost 10,000,000 sp.
I've figured out enough of the system to be able to boost the proper skills for assault rifle about as high as they will go and I got me a Creodon Breach AR. I buy the best AUR items whenever I feel they will give me an edge.
So when am I going to start seeing those 20 plus kill games? The best I've done is maybe 6/4. I have the winningest combination of gear I know of, but I still feel like I am working my butt off every round of skirmish or ambush just to stay in the game and not let my team down.
Seriously, what is wrong with this game? My enemies should just fall over dead when I saunter by. But like I said it is just not stop running, pointing the reticle and clicking R1 as fast and as furiously as I can.
The other day I was in a match of ambush with a guy that went 7/2 using just the militia assault rifle. Dude even killed me twice. How is that even possible?
(On a more serious note, squad leader commands with a good team on mic are the best thing ever. Tagged a tank with the defend marker and my squad rode around WWII style for half a match raking in the SP. And our team won the skirmish. Good times, good times. When we gonna see that command dropsuit go live?)

I gotta say it's probably your play style. I run around with a forge gun and a skm9 sub machine gun most of the time and am usually in the upper teens to low twenties on kills and single digit deaths. |

thats the mmo talking.
fps says tactics means everything.
sp gets you the gear, skills shows you how to use it. i always finish with a high teens kill score. i always follow one rule at least. play for the objectives. theres objectives on the field for a reason. there like beacons for gamers.
dont get cocky, no kill is an easy kill. then simply always second guess where your enemy will be. if you know there at objective A, your teams taking B (usuing your map is always key) its not hard to guess which direction there going to come in from. players always go for the route with the shortest distance.
but most importantly be a team player, 2 people will always over power one (unless they are really stupid) |

This doesnt sound like a case of your equipment to me tbh... (sorry) I only use a Type 2 suit & advanced gear at most, yet I quite regularly hit the upper end of the board, usually looking around 10-15/2-8.
Remember as well that, as per another thread also discussing this...the cost of your suit has little relation to how 'good' it is once everything is balanced right, even less so in a game where personal skill is just as much as a factor. If someone is better at aiming at your head then you are at theirs, then they have a massive 'damage bonus' over you. |

Grind to win = wrong

Well OP tbh you need to have some skill at FPS to begin with, its not a pay to win game and AUR doesnt means your getting better stuff than ISK items

It's advice about Assassin's Creed, but it's applicable here too.
You need to run more.
And if you stay at ground level for too long, you will randomly fall over dead. Stop doing that. It's not good for your stats, because K/D is all that matters. If your team loses, it's always everyone else's fault. I mean, you have a Prototype weapon, right? How could you possibly be the one making mistakes? That would mean the game actually allows for some measure of player skill to be relevant to the results! Since when have VIDEOGAMES needed people to PAY ATTENTION! Grind out your stuff, and you've already won. But don't stop running. |

AUR purchasable items only allow you to have access to a certain grade earlier in most cases, and when it comes to AUR grade proto-type gear all it does is allow you to have access to lower CPU, and PG (Power Grid) consumption items which in the end are not going to make a difference if you the PC (Player Character) invest in the right skills that will both lower the consumption of the item in question, and maximize the output specs of your suit. AUR items in the end are nothing short of superfluous.
In another series of posts and comments I have made though if people actually took the time to do some basic math; they'd find that statistically even the basic militia gear when enhanced by skills, and modules is comparable to advanced gear. The problem with the current build though is the lack of function. Sub-par frame rate, lag latencey, mediocore hit detection, and other in-game algorithims that seem to not function properly (always) in-game. |

I have over 12mil sp, and most of the time I am well under 20kills. I don't use vehicles, and I'm more worried about hacking then kills. I also spend a lot time hunting dropships with swarm, no kills since they bailout. Use mainly scout suit, or assualt-II played like a slower scout. So, play style results in me being on wp leaderboard, with a .62k/d. Recent matches have had been over 1k/d, I blame the new players in militia heavy trying to hit me at 10m with swarm as I fire proto breach smg for boosting my k/d. They will figure out not to do that soon, I hope. |

Gear doesn't mean skill, it only helps you survive a little longer until you can get better. Good players can take militia gear and do far better than average with it. I doubt this is a real post, but for those new players who are curious, you do need real skill to do well. Even in a Sagaris or proto dropsuit. It's just easier. |

Yes, this is a real post. Insofar as amount of SPGǪ was going to log on just to see where I am but dang if it isn't Monday evening. But last I looked was sitting on around 7,300,000 SP. The ten million was an exaggeration. But who doesn't exaggerate on the internet? KDR is around .37. War points maybe 36,000? Kills around 800?
Nothing in the OP is made up. I seem to be working my ass off in this Beta. Trying hard and harder still. And the best that can be said is that I have so far managed to not embarrass myself in a fair few matches.
Sure, my skill training is all over the place. Had a plan. Couldn't ever buy electronics upgrades. Decided to branch out. But I know how to fit out a dropsuit to within an inch of the max CPU PG. And enough to try to max out all the passive as well as active damage boosts for any given weapon type. Last build I came in toward the tail end and made a few different characters so never really maxed out anything. This build I decided to focus on one character. And max out everything I possibly could.
I usually don't play to win the leader boards. But sometimes I try like hell to crack the top three and haven't ever done it. Well, maybe twice. But that was more luck and a fluke of match making.
And I kind of feel let down. By all the posts I've read that have assured me that I would be winning like a king with all the sp I've managed to grind. And my RPG expectations that promise me god-like powers with maxed out stats. Just isn't happening.

There are 2 major aspects to getting more kills:
- Finding an enemy
- Killing an enemy
We're all gods here. If everyone else were mortals then we'd be able to eat through them and use their small bones for toothpicks. If you're playing to go toe to toe with opponents make sure to move with one of your squad mates so that you can double the damage being dealt to your opponent. As it stands you must be sneaky and strike down your opponent before they have a chance to fight back or you risk a brief relapse into mortality before your eternal soul finds solace in flesh again. |

Yeah, that is where the "fake " part of the post comes in to play. Or parody, satire, call it what you will. I am usually like, "Heck yes! Six kills!" I have had more 0 and 12 games than I would care to admit.
I am finding the game to be fairly well balanced, all things considered. I feel my load out making a difference, and that I am not being punished for dedicating a lot of time and AUR to the game. Even though some of the requirements for top gear are fairly steep and takes days and some patience to save up enough skill points to use, it seems worthwhile.
At the same time I never feel like a jerk for using my most OP fitting.
And to me it is a good and positive thing that a player, even if not the most coordinated, perhaps not so fast with the reflexes, can improve enough both through grinding for gear and just practice (the two go hand in hand, at least for me) to make a good contribution to their team. Even as a grunt. Without having to go the non-combat role route.

One thing you are not taking into consideration is your skill in using the game. Me? I suck at FPS. I suck the balls for sure. Im almost always in the bottom two spots with 0-2 kills and 10+ deaths. The thing is, I know its me, not the game or skill points. This is the first FPS Ive played since golden eye and I was crap at it too. It is sadly grind to win.....to a point, PDIGGY is right, gun skill does make a difference, if you understand the mechanics of the game...where people spawn....normal routes for objectives, all you need is a good gun. The CREON breach needs 7 bullets to do 500+ dmg...he aims he wins. When the hit detection is improved the FPS crowd will be improved. I know the OP post was a joke making fun of EVE elitists and their thought that paper skill should beat twitch skills, but it does bring up a valid point in the dichotomy of the playerbase |
