Though I haven't had a whole lot of time to get %100 used to the game, but it seems one of the few weapons I can actually use effectively are the assault rifles, and it appears that seems to be a trend as I see a vast majority of the people playing using these, especially in skirmish. (sorry for the run-on) I really wanted to like sniper rifles but the variants that I have at least don't seem to have a lot of stopping power and the scopes seem to not be very powerful for the map size potential.
Also, I die a lot, which is really neither here nor there because I'm trying to get decent with recon suits :)
Maybe implement a way to tell how "skilled" (how many skill points) a player is, a lot of times when I am repeatedly killed by someone it's hard to tell if it is because they have a higher level loadout or I'm just not playing very well, though I'm usually fairly proficient at FPS games.
All that aside, I think it will be a very cool game once it is finished and I greatly enjoy it (when i'm doing half decent). |

I think that there are a few guns that need to be brought up to par of the AR itself. ARs IMO is the hallmark example of how fast a person should go down under standoff distances and eveyr other practical gun needs to be based off its kill time.
Thus guns not reaching this par atm is the HMG, mass driver, the most and secondarly the sniper rifle and SMG are lagging behind a bit.
Scrambler Pistols are currently fine.
Shotguns are also fine.
Forge Guns are fine
Swarm Launcehrs just need a rework. |

If you can get in close, and assuming equivalent tier weapons, SMG > AR. Shotguns are pretty good too, as is a well-handled Mass Driver.
Because of draw distance, it's hard for snipers to perform up to standard at long range, because they're relying on target markers instead of the actual character model they're aiming for. Even so, good snipers will still outperform AR users, as long as someone can get in close enough to spot for them. And CCP are aware of the draw distance issues, and working on a fix, so hopefully that will help the issue as well.
Also, a vehicle is a good way to reduce your chance of being killed by stray AR fire. |
