I've ment to post on the forums before this and about all the great things in this game. But sadly I've been driven to post about a negative.
Why should we pay for a vehicle that we call in but gets stolen by an idiot that suicides with it after stealing it from us? I had just called in my dropship then I got into a fire fight, after it landed I started to run to it when it suddenly took off being piloted by a team mate and then crashed into a tower. Why should I have to pay the 300k isk to replace this when I doubt the idiot even had the skills to own a Top Tier DS with Prototype Weapons.
I wish I had posted about a better topic first but this has driven me insane, mostly due to the fat that this is just the latest in instances like this. |

It is a known problem, and we haven't had a clear indication from CCP if this is intended to remain this way. |

Its. Your. Stuff.
Some other idiot hops in & drives off with it? Not his problem. You're the one who thought of how all of the pieces will work together & had it commissioned. You paid for it upfront. You left it sitting on the lawn in the middle of a firestorm.
Some dude walked up to it & took it on a joyride? Guess what, still your parts & your frame being dropped in at your request. Once commanders are implemented we'll have more room with this, since they'll be approving & denying requests and if they see your death pop up they'll ask you over mic "Hey Sparky, you still want that dropship?" |

You DO get points for hacking a vehicle. 50 I believe.
Anyways, as I've said in one or two other threads explaining this exact same problem... just deal with it. I've literally... LITERALLY never had this problem. If you choose to call in your brand new expensive and shiny dropship and die right as your vehicle request is accepted, you gonna complain about having to pay for that one too? I'm fairly certain the driver has a few seconds to get into the vehicle before anyone else can. I can get into my vehicles before they even hit the ground, yet I can't get into another player's vehicle until after it's on the ground for a second.
Either way, simply put, if you request a vehicle, you'd better do it in a safe place where you can keep an eye on the sky so you can see the dropship coming. When the vehicle is brought in, stand as close to the dropzone as you can without being crushed. I do this EVERY time I call a vehicle, even at the beginning of a map or in spawn zones with lots of people and I never have my vehicles stolen from me.
All that being said, though, you shouldn't be able to operate a vehicle you don't have the skills for. Turrets would be fine but not the vehicle itself... |

I feel I have to make this clear, it wasn't an enemy that took my ship, I didn't die... My teammate flew off in my ship and crashed it... If I had died or if a enemy had hacked it those are my fault 100%. But my whole reason for being mad is a Teammate just flew off with it without issue just a few seconds after it getting dropped off. |

I think a 10-15 second timer should be implemented that a person on your team can drive it *They can always get in just not drive it right away* Because I do like the fact that I can share vehicals but it also can get annoying when someone steals it soon as it's dropped. |

They should at least require someone to have the skills to drive it, hacked vehicles too. If I hack a Sagaris without having Caldari hav III, for example, I shouldn't be able to move it. Its just a stationary turret till a driver with the right skills gets to it.
Then in the op case, the teammate could have hopped in and fired the door guns, but not flown off. Unless they had all the required skills, then they at least wouldn't have hit the building. |

Hell if you call in a high priced piece of equipment you better be prepared to defend it, because if I don't destroy it I will steal it. It has happened to me and that is what sets this game apart from other games, when you lose something it means something be it a tank or just a prototype weapon. If you don't like it then maybe you should stick with playing BF3. |

It does get very annoying to lose a 200k dropship to fellow teamates, usually noobs that don't know any better. I think having the skills to man any non-militia would be a good start. |

What I've learned to do in these kinds of situations is to head a little ways away from the starting spawn point before calling for a vehicle.
1st -- makes sure I don't accidentally squish a player spawning in. 2nd -- makes it so that the ship isn't closer to any spawning players than me when it drops. |

ill start by saying that as a surya driver, you are in charge of your vehicles. in the end, the jacker doesnt give a **** about your tank....he didnt pay for it. you are in charge of your stuff and yes, in the eve universe, nobody is going to hold your hand during a battle. Corporations will help somewhat with this, but if your tank gets jacked, its your fault.
There was a battle where my front gunner couldnt hit a dropship if it parked 5 feet in front of the tank....so i switch to the top turret for a second to splash a dropsuit (since i had a railgun) and he switches into my driver seat, tells me i suck, then proceeds to turn my 350k into a burning wreck in about 20 seconds.
its not about stopping friendlies from stealing your tank or putting a timer on the thing...
what i support is a forceful seat swap with gunners if the owner chooses to move around in his own tank. if you get it taken however, tough cookies.
thoughts? |

I would agree with that. Nothing worse than switching seats to shoot something and then someone jumping in and driving you repeatedly into a wall. |

People who keep saying that either haven't played eve, or haven't understood what is ment by it. You expect to loose each and every thing you take into a dust match, and of course you can afford to replace it because things are ment to be destroyed, they cost no more than you earn in a match. In eve your average noob could mine/mission for months to be able to afford a bs and then loose it to ill fitting and lack of skills and skill. Then they're back to the grind again. A hard lesson to learn and something most won't often repeat. If I loose a marauder, I just buy a new one, in fact I don't cos there is already 10 waiting in the pot.

Have the drivers compartment locked upon arrival to everyone except the pilot/driver, and allow them to lock it if they hop in and out. All bets are off, however, if the pilot/driver gets out and then gets pasted - then the vehicle can either be taken by a teammate, or hacked by the enemy.

Make it easier, if your trying to enter the drivers seat and you didn't call it in it needs hacking. Friend or foe. Gives you enough time to see someone doing it and hop back in quick. If your dead or you've left it to carry on by foot then it gets hacked and re used |

I like the hacking idea if it is not your equipment. The freedom to randomly come across vehicles on the battlefield is something I like, particularly if you equip a repair tool and can put damaged vehicles back in service. However, to be clear, this isn't just a problem for "whiners" who don't understand the "EVE Universe Rules". If you are a tactical team player and land your dropship for repairs, you may hop out to do that only to see your dropship take off in front of you when one of your gunners or a fresh spawn on the CRU hops in the seat. That makes no sense. |

I think this should be a problem fixed by the community not DEVs... While it does suck having someone steal your very expensive whip. I think that this will happen way less once corps are introduced and you can queue with your friends. The more people that coalesce into Corps and alliances the less people will do rude **** like steal your ride.. Well I'd like to think that anyway... |

Which is why i suggested Ownership Controls a while back.
This way, even if you have to get out of the tank to do something, you'll know someone isn't going to jerk it away from you.
vermacht Doe wrote:Friendlies automatically go in second seat as long as you're alive. Nuff said
Actually that is quite short-sighted. That's why my suggestion included the option to turn the clearing of a pilot seat both On and Off. The reason being, what if you have a point you need to defend, but you are already assigned to defend the interior of an area, but there is a reliable player of whom volunteers to guard the perimeter (such as a clan/corp). You can then still allow the tank to be used by others, yet have some control over who actually gets to pilot it with the seat clearing.
I'm thinking of adding a "Permissions Set" to the list of ideas. Where you enter the names of "trusted" individuals who are authorized to use your equipment, and if they're not on the list they can't use the pilot seat. (of course an off/on switch for this too because if you're spawning something cheaper for a general game, you don't want to add every stranger in the book) |
