JONLUK167 wrote:I thought the beta was put out for everyone but all I see is a sea of EVE players. Ive tried to get my friends to come and play, I had 10 guys over that are avid console gamers and let them play the beta on my account and could not convince one to come and join me. You'll want to not invite, show, or tell anyone else about the beta, considering you've just publicly admitted to a rather serious NDA violation. You're allowed to say you're in the beta, and give out extra keys that you have (provided you tell them that they'll have to read and agree to the NDA), but that's it. You can't show, tell, or allow access to anyone else. |

Sojuro Ryo wrote:Hellhammer Tactical wrote:the NDA is a bit of a hold back whenit comes to promoting the game but i guess its better not to overload the servers with CoD generation kids, im sure one of the future builds of Dust will be more open to invitation. the NDA is there to protect CCP who are essencialy makeing one of the most ambitious games in recent years FOR FREE. if the server goes down due to huge influx of casual gamers its a huge blow to CCP, its not just the Dust beta that would go down but EVE too. The NDA is only in effect while the game is in testing. Once it goes live it goes out the door. You have apparently never beta tested anything or you would know that. We are here currently to play the game and report any issue we have. It differs from beta to beta. I'll have to reread this one, but typically, and I believe it's the case here as well, anything from during the beta is only releasable if the company EXPLICITLY says it is. Even if they move to open beta before release, and so an NDA would no longer apply to that phase, that doesn't, in itself, mean that what we saw during closed beta is no longer covered by the NDA.
Remember also that an NDA isn't as flimsy or legally grey as an EULA. Basically all first-world nations recognize their legal weight. That said, I would be shocked if any company actual took legal action due to a leak during a beta, but they could ban your account in the blink of an eye, refuse to refund any aurum you bought, and they'd be right and allowed to do so.
For any EVE players out there, keep in mind that they could also ban your EVE account, not just your Dust beta account, for violations of the rules or NDA. One company typically means one account (even if they're separate. Get banned from one, you get banned from all. |

This is actually not true. CCP is trying to reach out to the console market. It just so happens that a lot of people who play eve own consoles as well. A small number of them apparently bought PS3's just so they could play CCP's new game because they like Eve so much. You're mostly surrounded by Eve players probably because a good chunk of console gamers do not even know about the forums or don't care to post in them. Eve forums are a pretty bit part of the game. (Mostly the 'metagame'.) As such, Eve player's forum activity is understandably higher. Don't bring CAOD into this >_< lol |

They want to hear feedback from them about this game I would hope they want the opinions of people that play GOOD FPS games, rather than CoD. Battlefield would be a good place to start. PlanetSide before Sony destroyed the balance by listening to whiners. CS:S. The last thing we need is another mediocre piece of crap like Halo or CoD. |

Ray seveN wrote:The recent battle field not so much, I felt it was really dumbed down in terms of team play. All they had to do was put in a class system and off everyone goes to do their own thing. They're probably gonna listen more to "what could make the game smoother" threads rather than " this gun is op nerf plz" threads There's only so much that can be done at the moment. I'll be perfectly honest, I don't even bother with team play at the moment, for the simple fact that without proper grouping and voice comms, it's way too much effort and most of it wasted. I'll try to stick with a group, man a turret or gun, or find a good corner to provide overwatch with my rifle, but there's really not much team play to it yet.
Hell, medics are effectively useless at the moment, since without indicators, groups, or comms we have no way to say we need a medic, the medic to know we need them, or for either to say not to tap out. I'll usually wait a few seconds out of habit from years of PlanetSide and other good games, but even then I tap out pretty quick, because I know no one is bothering to roll a logistics dropsuit.
I think a lot of the issues in this regard will clear up once grouping and comms are properly sorted out, and hopefully they will be in the next build. |

I think a lot of the issues in this regard will clear up once grouping and comms are properly sorted out, and hopefully they will be in the next build. There's a reason for restricted team play for the beta. The reason was that the amount of testing would be limited in certain aspects of the game. There will be alot of logis next update I'm sure. They're not only gonna buff them they will add in new hacking mods plus an 8 second manditory bleed out before suicide. So plenty of chances to revive someone. Next update is in august, really hoping for some update notes for the future build Yeah, about that, wanna link to the dev posts you're getting your claims from? lol
I fully understand tailoring to encourage testing of what they want, I've been in a lot of betas over the years (REAL betas, like this, not "free preview for pre-ordering"), and know the tricks used. I was merely commenting on the state of things as they applied to that sub-topic.
I'd also love to see your proof that we're getting the changes you claim, as I've not seen anything to that effect. |

Hellhammer Tactical wrote:as for not being for console, sony have made it known through the psn/pshome, they made a special are on PShome just to see the E3 announcement and there was a 3 block advert on the xmb's new releases when the beta first became active, selecting tat took you to a section on ps home full of videos and games. so its been advertised. CCP advertising is one thing, they're allowed to release info. We're not, hence the NDA violation confessed to in the first post. |

kick me off then! *raises hand* i read it all on the first day of logging on lol sad? perhaps....but i respect their needs for the NDA. you clearly dont respect them enough to read the damn thing. WOW bad me trying to get some more people to join, i didnt sell anything they didnt take anything they tried it and that was that. no i didnt read it and ill bet lots of players dont! You nonetheless agreed to it, and ignorance is not a defense (especially when you actively accept the terms, whether or not you read them.) |

Azura dark wrote:My 3 friends who are console only players, quit because 1. They hated how the controls felt, said its not as fluid as any fps games they play, 2. They raged over the spawning 3. They raged over being 1 shorted by proto and advanced gear 4. Because ccp is adding m kb support. And for some reason one friend hated how close the camera was to the merc in the merc quarters lol. Console guys are used to finished products even in beta. It certainly hasn't helped anything that beta these days typically means "free preview if you pre-order." It's the reason for so many "it's beta" comments on games that actually ARE in beta. We're here because it ISN"T finished yet, they need us to find what needs fixing and help figuring out the best way TO fix it! |
