Hello to all, Betatesters and Staff alike. I REALLY want Dust514 to be a huge success, but I am having a real hard time getting into the gameplay so far. the controls still feel very clunky, and combat/movment is just not at the pace that I think maps of this size and ambition need. I know we are still in beta, but I feel obligated to mention my opinions of the game play, because that is what beta is all about. Just my 2 cents here. Respectfully, Bill |

Same here, although I've only just played for approximately an hour so far. Besides what POOPYPANTS mentioned I think it's important to mention the demographic I'm apart of, especially because the devs have stated they want the game to be open to my arena of peoples: I just want to quickly turn on my PS3, play a few matches, maybe customize my weapons or loadout quickly between matches.
At this point, the game feels much more like a complex sci-fi shooter RPG (from my first impression) than a regular FPS. I'm not criticizing the changes, but I think there is a need to somehow ease new players into the game, have actual tutorials not just reading passages. For the menu screen in addition to having readings, have a popup video explaining what each menu is about and give examples of what the player could possibly do. The key is that, a new player shouldn't have to read a manual to get into the game. Even the "tutorials" where so wordy that at the end of it I really couldn't figure out what a section of the menus were for. The menu doesn't need to be a part of the game "world" filled with sci-fi terminology. Just tell me what happens if I add these things to my loadout, done.
Again, I don't want a watered down shooter, and I want a deep game, but that doesn't mean the game should be hard to get into.
A final pet peeze: I don't know if other players had this problem. I play on a 55" 1080p HDTV. For even the menus at times, I had to strain my eyes or move my head forward to read what it said.

I have to agree with your point about the "clunky" feel of the movement. Aiming for me at times seems more luck than skill :( it just doesn't feel solid (yes i know its still in beta but i hope it improves soon). I really want dust to succeed an for that to happen we need to engage some of the CoD squad which means smooth responsive and presice movement and transitions (reload, melee and weapon swaps) |

thats because it is. This isnt BF3 or COD.
But apart from that, perhaps there will be a militia only map, for those pick-up-and-play types, where you dont need to think about gear changes or whatnot.
This is a game for those wanting more depth than bf3. |

I had the same issue but now im just getting use to it. You've just got to put the time into and it will all come together.
But its still a worrie cus i can see alot of people on release give it a try but jack it in. |

Just because it's a sci-fi shooter rpg doesn't mean it can't be a good MMOFPS as well. |

Sure sometimes controls dont respond but that's understandable at current build.
I have no problem with the actual gameplay. |

ccp should make the tutorial more easy to understand, i managed to get right in to the loadout and understood all of it but i play eve and all ready understood the system, most people dont better explaination for new players would help the game. and i agree smoother movements would make the game more immersive |
