So the UI of the game seems to be running at 720p, but the actual 3d models seem to be running at 240p (at best) and using textures intended for the absolute edge of the draw distance. To give a more robust description of how things look overall, it's like the game is an early gamecube game. Surprisingly, even with the low quality graphics I'm seeing significant graphical hitching and up to a couple seconds of freezing when in the middle of firefights.
Did I mess something up with my settings on my PS3 or is this a known bug? As is it makes actually identifying friends/foes and playing the game near impossible due to the extremely low quality graphics. |

I hope it's just an early build, or that the textures and models were highly compressed or of a low quality to fit within the 1.5GB limit.
One of my complaints were that the graphical quality was quite low. I do not prioritize graphics over gameplay (Which I also find lacking), but the final build would simply be unacceptable in my opinion if it looked like this in conjunction with the current frame rate drops, pop ins and flickering. One time after completing a match, the textures simply disappeared! Hopefully, it's just the asset compression as I know Unreal Engine 3 can produce much more than this on the PS3, and CCP obviously know how to produce a decent looking game if you take a look at EVE. |

I'm having very similar issue. when i look online at in game trailers i see wonderful looking environments, characters, etc. But when i am actually playing the game, the graphics are mediocre at best. I'm using HDMI and i think my graphics setting on the PS3 are selected for the highest quality. so what gives? i have tried to find posts with people complaining of the same issue, but i can find very little. either i have an issue with my product or people are covering something up...or not reporting it (which i highly doubt). I know this is a BETA test in progress. but when i see trailers of actual game footage with wonderfully rendered characters, i have to ask why i'm not seeing the same thing. what am i missing? |

Probably just is compression to keep the beta client small. CCP wouldn't skimp out on graphics. I'm sure the game will look superb either close to or at release. |

I agree. CCP makes EVE look good even on lower end PC's. They'll make it look good. |

We shall see =/
With all respect to CCP, the game doesn't run on Carbon, their own built engine, its running on Unreal Engine 3 ... a good engine yes, but look at it's track record on PS3 ... it just doesn't work well on the hardware ... I'm sure the graphics will get better, but don't hold your breath for big changes. The engine would need heavy modification to run efficient enough to render the game at the quality of the trailers shown
It'll come, I'm not saying no, but if I understand CCP's overall expansion and improvement plan for Dust, as the game gets older, new content will be added, but so will engine updates. What the game releases as will not be the same as in a year or 2 from now.
Personally, I think the real fun stuff will come when the PS4 will be released, that system will have enough power for more vehicles to be added to the game via more ram, more custom armor (not just skins) bigger battles and environments, etc |
