I'm kind of sick of seeing my merc just materialize out of nowhere when I spawn, when in reality what I'm supposed to think is happening is my merc dropping in from the sky all badass-like.
If we could get a short animation of the dropsuit falling from the sky (almost like the animation for when the inertia dampener is activated) It would make playing DUST514 so much more immersive.
If this is in the works/planned for full release, then a confirmation from a CCP staff would be very much appreciated |

I was thinking about the same thing. People should spawn inside the MCC, then drop out like a badass. |

Spawn camping is enough of a problem. Letting everybody know exactly when (and when spawning locations are fixed, where) I'm spawning will make it worse. |

I think there is still talk about them doing it. It only really makes sense for the final game. Personally what I would like would be a certain radius around each spawn point to choose where you land. On top of that, dropping on top of something (say a tank) would cause massive amounts of damage. This would help deter spawn camping since any vehicle in the area would then be at risk. It would work against infantry too, but it would just be a lot harder since they're smaller targets. Makes better use of a drop ship as well since you would want to drop your allies off at a point and get out of there before any heavily armored men hurdling through the air crush you. |

If we are not spawning from a CRU (Clone Reanimation Unit) I think it would be very cool to have them do a spawn animation that was done for Starhawk where you do an orbital drop-in. Sort of a kin to Halo's own Obrtial Dropship Troopers. Anyway it would not take away from the game, but it would atleast explain how we got onto the surface without an uplink pad, or CRU. Even MAG did something original with parechuting in, and I honestly loved it. You could shoot them down too. |

THIS!
actully hear me out, what if you got to control the fall in 1st person? and it's not much but you can hold in a direction to control where you land? It would be like you get the play the part where you get shot down from space. |

well to be honest 3 out of 10 times I spawn when camped I materialize behind you and Kill you before you know what hit you. Sweet payback for the other 7 so please don't take that away. |

... if you hadn't noticed people spawn camp to ensure they capture an objective (and get easy kills). So it's relevant because this will reduce the effectiveness of spawn camping due to the uncertainty of where the person is going to land. There are also other things you can tinker around with this method as others have suggested (like damaging/stunning blast radius when landing or selecting which part of the MCC you want to drop from).
BUT! It seems you have a great fear of being turned into the plummeting fireball from space, so let me ask you this: Have you ever tried shooting someone who is inertia damping down? If you haven't, and want to try, keep an eye out for enemy dropships that are about to crash (or people ditching their camping spot from a tower). Usually people will bail and inertia damp. Try shooting them. With AR, sniper, forge gun. What ever you want. It's freaking difficult man.
So basically your fear of getting shot out during dropping sounds silly to me.
EDIT: It's also important to keep in mind, that other games have done this very successfully |

First, this is in the wrong forum section. FEEDBACK & REQUESTS
Second, the developers are currently playing around with different spawning mechanics. Also, if you look at the short side of the CRUs to the right of the control panel, they have an open doorway and an interior that is visible.
IMO, I hope the drop in spawning ends up working out for non-CRU spawning, and that when we spawn at a CRU we actually start out INSIDE it with some sort of one way shield for the doorway that will let things go out, but not in. |

Yes, please stop moving so you can look up in the sky for someone dropping in. Out in the open where you have a good look at the sky. (Cue snipers.) Might be fun to take the occasional shot at a drop trooper knowing it's a one-in-a-million chance to hit. More epic if you do actually create a spawn fireball with those kind of odds. (Hey devs, how about a reduced spawn cost for becoming the spawn fireball???)
But PLEASE, if the developers are listening, y'all have GOT to do something about spawn camping. Maybe two drop zones, or shift the drop zone to an alternate when the other team gets within a certain distance (direct fire distance). There are some interesting potentials for come-back tactics with two drop zones instead of one. (Also like the "semi-steerable" dropsuit idea.) |

Yeah that was one of the things i liked the most in Starhawk, be even cooler if they did add it to this game |

i said in another post i liked the starhawk style spawn , as it made sense as the clone reserve is a closed unit, when you spawn your clone from inside the cru it's sent through a micro wormhole (like what happens with the drop uplinks) and you spawn in the air with your inertial dampner on and are able to move where you will land slightly. i think it would be more fun and un campable way to spawn. |

hope the devs atleast suggest this internally, you would never respawn in exactly the same place this way , and gives you time to get control of your character . and also looks bad ass. |

I'll gladly take that all day! If they can do that there are going to be few who argue against it. It's awsome, functional, and works. The only thing I would do is make it somewhat random, and/or allow us to somewhat have control over our trejectory when we are proppelled out and are using our enertia dampeners to slow our decent. Still that was awsome! |

Yeah. The dropping in animation is rad. The CRUs should be changed to just landing pads. You get shot from the MCC or some... building to the landing pads. |

Did any of you play section 8 that's exactly how you spawn. From a ship in orbit and you control your decent and where you want to land. Its not as dangerous in section 8 to avoid being seen too much you can wait until the last min to pull the break and when you land a bigger area is affected . You can kill pple this way and damage vehicles. So I agree at the very least some kind of animation lol
