I have about 4 million SP so far, and the bulk of them are in dropship oriented skills. Yet I can't make any SP with it unless I can convince pub players to gun for me.. so myself and other wanna be pilots have had to get creative, which seems to have spawned a firestorm of spam and antics. While it may be amusing at times, I agree it's much too overdone on the current map. |

Or, make it so that the drop ship guns cannot be fired unless someone is piloting the ship and the ship is airborne. No one in the pilot seat? Ship not flying? No guns.
*edit: I always imagined the drop ship as mainly a troop transport vehicle. It does suck that you don't really get sp for transporting troops... |

Yeah. You are right there. I was imagining the turret being keyed in to the ship running. So it didn't seem... artificial.
I just really hope they don't make it so you can't interact with the environment (i.e. go on top of buildings with a machine that, you know, flies and stuff) just because people were using it to their advantage. And other people complained.
Which to me is another massive artificial constraint.
But yes, now that I think of it, turret fitting for a pilot gun would be an interesting addition anyway. |

I have to imagine that a dedicated gunship vehicle would be somewhere in the pipe. Not only would such vehicles make people more likely to use them rather than that tactic, those who used that tactic would now be vulnerable to a rapid death. |

i have 7 million SP and all of it is dropship related.
i still dont have guns, but i dont need them, because i can just drop on people, thats why its a drop ship, not a figher ship, or bomber ship.

I've seen him do it too. He'll make sure every one under him is dead by rubbing his drop ship on the enemy spawn. |

Dropships need to be given SP for their intended role... IN FACT every class needs to be given skill points for its intended role. The fact that killing is the key to skill points (And capturing before everything gets blown up), is wrong.
- Preventing virus upload, give skill points. - Spotting enemies, give skill points. - People spawning on beacons, give skill points. - Reviving target, give skill points. - People spawning in your dropship, give skill points. - Defense bonus skill points. - Following orders skill points (Already implemented). - Shield transfer skill points. Et cetera, et cetera...
Finally... and most importantly. A 1.25 multiplier for ACTUALLY WINNING a contracted battle, to encourage people to win instead of just racking up skill points... Duh.... |

While it may be amusing at times, I agree it's much too overdone on the current map. At the beginning I also wanted to skill-up for dropship pilot, but finally decided to Heavy AV. At the moment looking at the DS is not quite used to what it was created. It is able to destroy a tank, it seems to me that it is too much. I like the idea of preventing use of turret's without a pilot. It should be possible to use the turret's, for which you don't have skill. It's unfair that the pilot may not fitted advanced turrets to DS because he don't have skill for them(after all he is a pilot and so can not fire them while piloting). Someone running around in militia stuff can get in to any vehicle and use any kind of turrets that are fitted there - it is unfair. The DS lacks some mechanics which would enable the pilot to show where the gunners to shoot. It often happens that persistently gunner shoots to target that is 500m away and the guy under DS fires SL. indicator of which side of the DS gets dmg(for gunners) could help. It would be nice if the DS could do a smoke screen for people who jump out of it. Many times flying over the roof after jumping out of the DS I landed beyond roof(this would not have happened if the pilot eject from the cockpit). |

The Drop Ships need a nerf.
If you got one-shotted by a tank, it was one with at minimum 8-10M SP in it to get the largest railgun (which is the only weapon capable of doing that), I'm guessing 8-10M as a Sagaris/Surya needs other modules to function properly. Besides, you should still have been able to take two, unless you forgot to fit it with anything but weapons and damage mods. |

If your Tank is dying to Dropships, they're outplaying you and your team. A good Dropship pilot will stay in the tank's blindspot while raining fire down on you. Good AV Infantry will see that Dropship as target practice.

Frankly, you're always going to see people doing whatever they can to be 'safe' as they farm kills. It's just player mentality. As long as the towers or other high places are out of draw distance (They won't be for long, draw distance is being increased) people will take advantage of that. The problem with giving a pilot a gun is the majority of them will never give a **** about their door gunners if they can get the kill themselves.
The best solution to the issue of dropship pilots not getting enough points is the following
1) Shared credit. Both the gunner responsible and pilot get +50 points and a recorded kill on their stats. The other door gunner who was not involved in the kill recieves 25 point assist as per normal. 2) Transport points. Players need to be able to request pickup and dropoff locations, and the dropship pilot needs to be able to see these marked on their hud. Successfully landing at a designated spot for pickup then dropping them off should net some serious points. Note, this should not be like battlefield where you simply look up and press a button. Squad leaders can press R3 to bring up a squad command menu while the R2 wheel is open. All players should get an option on this wheel and the tacmap to designate a pickup and dropoff location. Landing at both spots in the process should give 100 points. Hovering over so the person can drop out should give 75. (50 for pickup in both cases. 50 for landing and 25 for them jumping out.) The pilot should see a pickup/dropoff request from anyone on their team, they should not be dropship specific. |

I'm not QQ here. if you read my entire post, not just selective parts, you would know that Im spec AV(not a tank driver). The only role of DS is to take ppl from on point and drop them on second. DS doesn't have SL or AFG installed on board to kill other vehicle. That's it, dropship is not a fighter. |
