So far you guys have been doing a great job with the beta, and this game is turning out to be pretty fun. It was announced that the new build has a ton of great things for the medic system, which made me very happy. The mass driver was introduced in this current build, and I was wondering if the new build you guys are working on will introduce the laser rifle. I don't need a solid yes or no response since you guys might not know if it will make it in or not, but some indication would be nice. Are you guys trying to make the laser rifle available for testing in the next build? What are the chances that the laser rifle will be in the next build (in percentage please)? It would also be nice to know what kind of niche the laser rifle is meant to fill; will it be very versatile and useful all around like the assault rifle? or will it be something designed for a very narrow and specific function like the swarm launcher? somewhere in between? What are its general strengths and weaknesses? A few details on what its like, and when we might get to play it would be nice. This gun seems very interesting to me; aside from the forge gun, so far its the only gun that doesn't seem to be just a scifi version of a regular old gun.
Pretty please, any comment on the matter would be appreciated, thank you. |

I just want to say, they didn't really say anything about the "new build"
They mentioned it was being used in the in house build, which I imagine changes weekly, if not daily. We'll get it when we get it, right now I just want them to at the very least patch in the other two maps, this map is quickly becoming a race to see who can destroy the CRU's, lock down the objectives, and spawn camp the enemy team at their initial spawn, game in and game out. |

The role the laser rifle will play is burning the evil out of heretics It will be a heavy class weapon* so that it cannot be wielded by heathens**
* May not actually be a heavy class weapon ** Viziam does not wish to discriminate against users who are not of the True Amarrian Faith and will provide detailed operation manuals to Caldari allies |

The rifles are pretty much done, they are just adjusting its damage output for the most part. Right now it cooks faces just a little bit /too much/. They end up being melted instead of cooked, and this will not do!
We should have it in the next build. It is a continuous beam rifle that should be effective in close to mid-range. |

Well they did say some things about the new build. from here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=182538#post182538
CCP Remnant wrote:YouGÇÖre all pretty spot on. The Logistics suit hasnGÇÖt quite found its niche yet, due in small part to stats and in large part to his dependence on having a variety of equipment to use (which just isnGÇÖt there). His strength lies in his versatility, but without the tools to do so heGÇÖs obviously not living up to his full potential. HeGÇÖs not perfect, but much improved in the build weGÇÖre using in the office. Some things to look forward to in the next update:
- Logistics suits have a 10% bonus to hacking speed. New hacking modules will be available on the market to boost this as well.
- Bumped the Logistics shield up by 10 HP so it has the same max. shield as the Assault and a tiny bump to shield recharge rate. A minor conceit to his fragility. Every little bit helps, after all :P
As for downed victims:
- Victims can no longer suicide immediately. There is a mandatory eight-second delay after which they can choose to suicide. If they choose not to, they can wait for up to 30 seconds for someone with a nanite injector to reach them.
- Victims get a notification when someone with a nanite injector is nearby so that they know help is on the way.
- When fitted with a nanite injector, HUD icons will appear showing you the location of downed friendlies.
Some general notes:
- The repair tools were removed because we felt they were still too clunky and not that fun to use. WeGÇÖre fixing them up and theyGÇÖll be back as soon as possible. The fact that only AUR versions exist on the market was an oversight. They should have all been removed from the market.
- There ARE repair nanohives. Look for any nanohive with the (R) designation in its name. These replenish ammo and repair armor.

Personally what I'm hoping is that it won't be like the Sentinel Beam from Halo where you might as well just be using a flashlight on the enemy. And even if it was effective, it wasn't very satisfying to use and it was pretty difficult to use right.
I bet that it works like a mix between an Assault Forge Gun and an Assault rifle. Best described by my onomatopoeias.
*deep breath.*
"*Whoooooop...BSHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
It requires a short charge time then unleashes a powerful laser stream that deals greater DPS than an equal assault rifle, but an assault rifle that gets the drop on the on a laser rifle user will undoubtedly kill the laser rifle user first.
It's also great against vehicle shields, but terrible against vehicle armor. (As in you might as well be pelting it with a Militia Assault Rifle.) |

I'm hoping for a medium zoom semi auto marksman rifle that can pull off a descent rate of fire. I'm not a fan of any of the tactical variants (they don't do enough extra damage to make them worth it and a 3 round mag for the tac sniper rifle really cuts into it's versatilaty) |

I just had a horrifying thought... What if laser rifles are heavy weapons only? That would just be terrible, heavies already have 2 weapons that only they get to use, and I'm really looking forward to this weapon. Its like one of the only unconventional weapons. |

I mean, right now we have weapons with no ballistic drop and a slow flight time, and I'd like to see how those balance against a weapon that's effectively hitscan, has no recoil, and still no ballistic drop. |

If they hold true with the Eve universe, the Beam rifles will be sniper rifles, while the pulse variant will be shorter range, more like the assault rifle. |
