EvE doesn't just use different colours, hull types have there own model most of the time.
Different tech1 frigates have there own model. Tech 2 and some faction use model of tech 1 with new colour scheme.
So, the burst, assault, tactical, and breach versions would have different models. The militia, standard, advanced, and prototype would reuse the models but have different colours. Assuming they don't do something different from eve, they may have plans and the art people just haven't finished the models yet. Having the model give you style of weapon and colour tech level would make it easier to identify weapons. For example, if you have seen tactical ar and Creodron breach ar, you could(as in have chance) tell what a prototype tactical ar is first time its seen (if one is ever added). If it was a new model, all you could tell is "I don't know what that is."
One of the smgs is Caldari, the prototype Ishukone smg, Ishukone is one of the eight megacorps that run the Caldari state. Ishukone does alot of trade with the Minmatar, so it makes sense for a place for cross over weapons. |

I find the weapons so far very lacking in creativity, just scifi versions of regular weapons... Greater variety of racial weapons, or greater variety of weapon models within 1 weapon type from the same race could make up for that. I find the plasma shotgun the most innovative of all the designs.
Except it behaves just like a regular shotgun, sure its a plasma shotgun, but doesn't even give that impression where it fires. I was expecting it to shoot some kind of expanding wave of plasma, but visually its unimpressive when firing. Basically just a scifi version of a regular shotgun,
The actual gun model is pretty damn beautiful though. |
