grouping is gonna massively change the way the game is, and a very large amount of the testers would actually play more often if it was in game, why leave something out thats gonna have such a large influence on the game |

It will have a significant impact on gameplay/longevity and fun factor, yes.
But it will ALSO have a significant NEGATIVE impact on the viability of testing for issues in the game. By the time they're testing the teamwork-related elements of the game, the majority of the core functionality should already be in good working order.
At the moment, they're still working on that. |

Then they will test that when they release the grouping function. as Blacknova said, this game is still getting on it's feet and still have issues with main gameplay. Things like spider-tanking and logistic reairs are things that can be worked on latter on in the beta or even after release. Dust has the ability to adapt after it has been reseased. |

Greetings,
Fat Axel wrote:grouping is gonna massively change the way the game is, and a very large amount of the testers would actually play more often if it was in game, why leave something out thats gonna have such a large influence on the game As Garrett stated it would have huge negative impact on the current round of testing. For some reason too many people don't understand this, further they don't understand that this is a not a DEMO, it's a BETA, and finally they forget that we still have 4 (5?) months till release.
Were grouping in the game right now, you would have prolly the same number of testers, however, the testers would not be testing so much as holding an epeen contest. You would have more regimentation which allows for less creativity and more conformity. You would have, as Awiergan mentioned, 4 - 5 man spider teams who would litterally require another 4 - 5 man spider team to defeat... Who is going to test the SMG at that point? You would have 2 - 3 man forge gun / mas driver teams... Who is going to test the sniper at that point?
Yes, this beta has been going on for a couple of months, but there is still as much time if not more before launch. CCP is doing the smart thing and making sure the individual components are ready and functional before adding support for teams.

CCP have big big plans for this game.
First step is to get a core FPS mechanics gameplay polished.
When that is done, then they will allow grouping and work on that portion of it.
Thats another reason why we haven't had corp matches yet and are only on the "small" map.
You should (given the current way beta's are treated) think of this as an alpha test that you happen to be in.
In another month (in Aug) they will release a new build and you can think of that like being into the closed beta.
If they have an Open beta, it will be sometime after that and before the holidays.
I expect release in Nov-Dec timeframe.
Then remember that after release, for the first year, this game will be like an open beta, changing every 4-6 months, with continuous free expansions forever.
Work on testing your single player stuff for now, grouping comes later. |

This.
First they need to make shooting feels right. Then everything else. |
