Why should I spend $20 on a game that's meant to be F2P and that I haven't even played yet? |

yes the GAME is free to play but the game hasent been released yet
you paid for early access in the form of 20 bucks and a beta invite and they even threw in some AR and some perm gear
plenty of games charge for a closed beta code...just look at Path Of Exile i paid 10 bucks to get in and i havent regretted it
for those of you that havent heard of Path of exile...its a F2p MMO in the style of Diablo 2...its what me and tons of other diablo fans wanted diablo 3 to be...but wasent
some companies need the money to support the game and seeing how Grinding gear games is a low level NZ game company they deserve it
so bottom line dont complain that you paid for the beta and its less than satisfactory, becasue in closed beta you are an unpaid game tester thats paid in the satisfaction of being able to play the game befor anybody else
your job is to test and submit feedback and bugs and if you have played any other closed betas then you should already know that stuff already is and probly will break of the course of open and closed beta so you really shouldnt be complaining in the first place
get used to it and just wait like everybody else |

Yeah, good thing I didn't buy it yet because first off, if you're an indicator of the community behind this game, then I desire no part of it.
Secondly, you're telling me that I should pay $20 so I can play a broken experience before a full one comes out that will still be broken for a little bit as they continue to work it out. Terribly flawed logic.
So you paid for a beta on a game that is completely what you wanted and what you expected.
I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS GAME PLAYS. I don't know how it feels, how it works, balancing...This is why a beta for this game is so important! I'm not willing to drop cash on something I haven't played, simple as that.
For a Diablo rip-off, you already know what's up. Click dudes, get loot, repeat. This is a FPS that seems to be in the vain of MAG but on a greater scale. MAG was great in concept and theory and mediocre in execution.
I just simply can't drop cash for it right now. |

I'd like to point out that if you buy the merc pack, you get full beta access and $20 worth of aurum, in addition to some other items. You basically get your money back; it's like buying yourself a Dust gift card and getting beta access for free. |

I understand, but that's still $20 spent on a game that I might not play in the long run. |

I personally am very glad I went ahead and got it; even in the beta, I find it pretty addicting. Ultimately it is your call, although I believe that once you get a limited beta key, you can play every other weekend. I don't think you have to enter to win another one. |

Now now, don't push the OP to buy a pack when he hasn't even tried the game.
I suggest you email PSN or CCP, depending on who you got the code off and tell them the code doesn't work and they should issue you a new one.
I think the forums is more for reporting bugs and development issues |

not my fault you paid to get in a closed beta...closed betas are known to be broken and are for testing
you can still run around the game and get a feel for it and find out if its gonna be for you...if you have played eve then you know exactly what to expect

I just simply can't drop cash for it right now. Don't worry about him, he apparently didn't really read your post closely, if at all. Chances are you received this past weekend's beta code but input it after the weekend was up from what it sounds like. Unfortunately, there seems to be some issue on Sony's end with these beta codes remaining active even after usage, making this an additional issue with them not expiring after their time-sensitive validity is up.
In other words, what happened was that you received a code that was exclusively for this past weekend, didn't get around to inputting it until after the weekend was over, it let you download the client, create a character and everything, but then wouldn't let you access the game. Bunch of people having variances on this issue, like yourself not realizing their access would expire after last weekend ended.
Word is that they're supposed to have beta weekend events every other weekend, which last weekend's was the start of, and that people like you and I have an opportunity to participate in. People that received their codes prior to this last weekend or bought the Merc Pack, on the other hand, have full beta access every weekend until release comes around.

EasyDaisy wrote:I have the same problem! I don't want to buy that mercenary pack before i tested the game! I CAN make an avatar but later on i can't login because i have a invalid code???? Easy, either your access has expired (you received a beta weekend event code granting you access only for that weekend event) or you've tried inputting a code from Twitter/Facebook/Google+ that had already been used, but is currently bugged permitting its usage to download the client but not provide access. If you want access, you're unfortunately stuck right now, as unless you get your hands on another code from one of those aforementioned sources (look for @Dust514 or Dust 514 pages), received one prior to this last weekend, or purchase the Merc Pack, you won't gain access this weekend.
However, I have been hearing that they intend to hold beta weekend events like this past one every other weekend, meaning that after this coming weekend, we may receive another access code. I cannot confirm this at the moment, but there's a slim bit of hope for you. |

There are 3 types of codes 1. Original Beta Tester codes. Full access. These ones are all gone as far as I know (unless they want to hand out more later) 2. Mercenary Pack Codes. These are good for the Beta Weekends only. (I think) 3. One-time codes. Only work for a single weekend. These are currently what the PSN Home station is handing out. |

In EasyDaisy's case I'm not sure what to say other than try to email support at the address they tell us about. Regarding yours Groth, I'm not clear on the status of the Playstation Home code, whether it's time-sensitive access provided or not, as I've seen some say it is and others that it isn't. Tren Krom wrote:I too have this problem. I tried so solve it by getting a full access code of the dust twitter. For some reason the codes are remaining valid after use, at least for downloading the game client, but not for providing your account access to the game.
I mentioned it to the Playstation support dudes and they said they'd be looking into it, so here's to hoping that's worked out whenever CCP next releases codes through there. |

Quick correction. Merc Pack codes are also full-access. Closed beta servers are open Thursdays-Mondays weekly for full-access players. |

I received a PlayStation Home Beta code last week and apparently it too was only good for this past weekend Beta session. I contacted Dust support because several friends who got their keys off PS Home still had access. Support told me that my key was only a temporary one. Of course I cannot get another one from Home because when I enter the kiosk it just prompts my previous one automatically.
I recognize the Merc Pack as a decent value in AUR and other items but I still am not sure if I want to pay the $$ to get full Beta access. It is a tough choice since I loved the game and really need to stay on top of things as an Admin for a large gaming Community planning on supporting the game with our own corporation.
Pretty sure I will cave since chances of securing another Beta code, especially one that will last until release, are pretty slim. Quite possible that CCP has won this round |

I have the Full Access beta from the second batch released on PSH, but my freind has hers from the weekend event, she tried logging on and was denied, while atthe same time im killing Dropships attempting to smash my head into my chest with my god send Forge Gun. I told her i'd look into it, and heres what i concluded:
She has the weekend key, meaning in order to play the game, she has to waste 20$ on something she wont really get into (since its a beta, most of DUSTs elements arnt apparent).
I see many others got either the first or second batch of FA Beta Keys, i would bring it up with CCP and Sony, since its there bad. Even if i had the money, i wouldnt spend 20$ on something thats F2P. |
