When you are crouching you should automatically stand up when you press the sprint button. And for the love of god add the ability to go prone! What, in the future no one is able to lay on the ground to make themselves a smaller target? C'mon, even Battlefield caved in and added this ability! |

but im up for un crouching when running
I rarely camp. It would be nice to be able to reduce how big of a target I am when I'm trying to recharge my shields though. Plus if there is going to be snipers in the game, they HAVE to camp. So it would be a good feature to make them smaller targets to improve their effectiveness.
And so far nobody has mentioned the obvious disadvantages to being prone, which are 1) you can't flee from enemy fire as fast and 2) it makes you a sitting duck to anyone who manages to sneak up on you.
And for the record, I HATE snipers, but there are people who enjoy doing it so this would make that a more viable option. I have only been killed once by a sniper in this game, that suggests that sniping isn't very effective. |

Why do I say this? Try creeping up close to a corner and just barely nudging your gun's nose to angle around the edge, then pull the trigger. Congratulations, you just shot the wall! Now, imagine that with the floor instead. Your bullets would leave inside the floor collision area... thereby not allowing you to shoot 50% of the time.
You don't have to have prone to see this in action, just rent a militia tank --preferably with a railgun. Roll it behind a low-lying hill, and angle your gun just over the top of the hill to something in the distance. Even though you can see clean through to your target in first-person targeting mode you will hit the air above the hill, and be surrounded by a cloud of useless dust.
This is a good point, but it's still BETA and the collision issues can be worked out. Testing prone shortly after would not be a bad idea. I really think it's a basic yet essential ability in an FPS. |
