When the game starts there is one volume, which is not controlled by the volume settings. From there is possible to turn some sounds down: voice, sound effects, and music. However, not all sounds are limited by the volume controls: heart beat when you die, and music that is played when the match ends, maybe more, but these are for sure not limited by sound controls.
My problem, and probably others is when you push sound from multiple sources through one surround sound system. I like to watch movies, or play music while I am gaming, and I'm sure I'm not alone. My computer's volume, which is decidedly lower than the output of playstation makes this really hard, and some sounds not being limited by the volume controls (ie. heart beat, and match end music) causes dust514 to be excessively loud during moment of death, or at the end of the match.
I can turn the volume down while the game starts, so the music that is played when you select dust514 in the playstation menu, and the music that continues as the game loads are manageable, but the heartbeat and the match end music should be controllable via the sound settings, and they are not.
I would prefer ALL sounds be managed by the sound settings of the game, but the sound played in the playstation menu, and while the game boots might be harder to manage than the sounds that are played mid game.
My primary request is to limit the heartbeat and match end music to the same levels that the rest of the sounds are limited to in the settings, and my secondary request is to have the playstation menu music, and the game load music also limited by these settings, but that might not be possible, or desirable since they create the experience that most users probably control with the volume nob on their stereo or TV, and they don't have one sound system managing multiple sources of sound.
I keep turning up the sound so I can hear my other music, or movie, but then that means dust514 is almost busting my speakers when I die, and I definitely have to turn the volume way down if the match ends. It's frustrating. |
