If your having issues with connections like i had assumed i was, here is 2 links to heavily mitigate restrictions to your PS3's PSN connection. they fixed my problems to some extent and allowed me to access the game. that said i still cannot modify drop suit builds or access the market.
Setting a static IP for your PS3 http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-ps3-playstation-3.htm
Setting a net port forward for your for the PSN Google Fu your way with a search like " playstation network port forwarding (enter router model here)"
Or if you have a D-link DIR-615 as i do http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-615/PlayStation_Network.htm
Hope that helps fix some one else, if any one has input on what i can do to fix my issues for next weekend i would be happy to try any thing i have failed to think of myself or have not done already.
Here is my Build to amplify previously stated problems; PS3 Model: CECH-3001A (Current gen PS3 Slim, 60MB HD) Router: D-Link DIR-615 Modem: ISP supplied, serialized, Generic Single CAT-5 output, no stamped model type/ number/ name. Connection: 30MB.. Comcast ISP Ping EU: 144-231 Ping US: 67-101
Have already performed the above port forwarding, also uninstalled and re-installed. twice. Sill having load time issues in excess of 1 hour with everything except the combat maps |

It is your D-Link Router that is the problem most likely. It is the one that is a dual device a Modem and a Router....I'm guessing this because in the jumble of what you posted you failed to mention any MODEM. Most likely the firewall on the modem/router needs to be adjusted more than the port opening or DMZ can provide.
Why don't you go over to ping test and to speed test and get a general idea of what your speed and connection are like (you are looking for Packet Loss, and if it is under a thousand miles to your test point it should give you an A rating at least). Then call up comcast and get them to walk you thru the install set-up process.
Second thing is you can't modify the first 4 dropsuits, they are your defaults. You would have to create a new dropsuit in order to modify or change a dropsuit, you might even have to go to market and purchase Militia Gear, which has it's own subheading in the Market that I don't recall from the last build. |

as for the modem fire wall, it has long since been disabled. and no data packet loss is observed whilst pinging EU or US host IP's.
additionally, i am well aware how to modify gear load outs, this is the third weekend i have tested the beta. but the first time i have any issues with the client or lag for that matter. all my issues have come about since the patch last Thursday.
what i was trying to say is that any page load outs for ANY modification of skill or fitting is in excess of 15 minutes assuming it dose not freeze. getting to the ctr selection is a 2 hour stairing contest with the load wheel, on average. the combat map is lag free if luck is on my side and i can get the game to load that far with out being bumped off. the only place i can access the market, and mind you this is a special case that apples only to the market. is from the combat set-up room. and even then that only gives you 1 minute and 30 seconds to buy gear i cannot use to modify my fittings.
Sadly... or maybe thankfully , I'm not the only one with this problem. so i assumed those links may be of use to any one else. who's problems can be solved by modification of connection. |

This is what helped me solve the loading ring of doom.
It seems that my D-Link Router had automatic firewall settings. Once I put my PS3 in a DMZ mode the game loaded and ran quite well.
Before this solution I thought I had a corrupt d/l. This seems to be the solution for those that are connecting with a router.
Also try to have a nat 2 type connection. |

my buddy has a dlink and the ps3 always complains about it not allowing packet fragmentation. although that is mainly used for voice, at least that is what is says. on your ps3 internet connection test do you receive upload and download speeds or does it give a scrolling error at the very bottom? does it state your NAT type? if so, what is it?
sorry that you're a comcast customer, i've heard the worst things about them... data caps? ew wtf get out.
back to topic, you did state modem is ISP provided, can you please list its brand name, model number, fw version? to go in to detail here, my router subnet is 192.168.2.x but to access my ISP provided MODEM its on 192.168.100.1 (ARRIS DOCSIS 2.0 / PacketCable 1.0 Touchstone Telephony Modem HW_REV: 02 VENDOR: Arris Interactive, L.L.C. BOOTR: 5.01 SW_REV: 6.1.67A MODEL: TM502G)
it requires no U/P to connect, although i cannot modify any of its settings, only view them.
I would then give static IP to PS3, you did this already though i assume. by giving it a static, within your Router (Dlink) you give it the PS3 MAC address and assign it the static IP, this is the only and proper way you should set static IP. also, make sure your DHCP is not giving a large pool of IP's, mine only gives 192.168.2.100-140 with all of my static between .5 and .20 so that the router never tries to give out static IP's.
I've then placed my static IP into the DMZ of the router. disable router firewall, ddos protection, disable wireless (things to see if it makes it better, wireless can bog a router down). ENABLE UPnP (about NAT type 2 is best on PS3, anything else, contact your ISP)
now, on to some other things, i used to lag really bad, i disabled in game voice from Dust menu, i've disabled XMB notifications from PS3 settings and also UnPlug ALL USB connected to PS3, my official 7.1 Sony headset causes lag (or did, not really tested since new build, i'm scared). i just saw someone post that their Logitech race wheel (usb) is causing major lag.
please make sure to use Wired connection and not wireless. idk what else to say but please report back on your findings if your issues get better and what exactly made them better. |

I don't know about your isp comcast but I know mine will not disable the ISP's Provided Modems firewall, as it would directly impact the overall stability of their network would be the phrase the manager used with me. If it is your own modem, I would say try to update the firmware but good luck with that, as only ISP's are allowed to do that, they are the only ones the modems manufacturer will provide firmware updates to.
To quote one of the PSN's MVPs over in the old forums support section who put together a substantial Network & Connection Faq (good luck finding it over in the new lithium forums), can you go over to a friends house with your ps3 and try it from there to see if the problem persists?
Are you wireless for that matter? Without telling you to go wired, have you changed the wireless channel to something other than the default (some say it goes to 11, sorry spinal tap moment).
How did the modem get set up, was it the isp's guys? Did you have the router when they did the install or did you do it yourself later? Did you provide the isp the router's mac address or did you clone the one created by your primary computer hooked up to the modem, or are you using the modem's mac address in the router?
That is to not even ask about how many networks are trying to work on your pc under the network and sharing in windows pc's.
Did you try some PS3 Safe Mode options to possibly fix any problems with the ps3, make a back-up before attempting anything because I don't want to hear another person say they erased their ps3. |

I gotta try this and see if it speeds up my load times. i mean they're better then they were in the last patch but IT takes way to long to load up info from the databases.
yes I know 10 secs is nothing compared to 10s of mins but still. |

You shouldn't have to use any port forwarding for the game to work. Before the E3 version the game took forever to start for me (having the nebula scene with the rotating wheel for several minutes), but since the E3 version this issue seems to be gone. |

I think that a lot of the load times have more to do with the fact that the game is in Beta and some of the start up processes that it must have to go through. I have noticed the long load times for the game but the longest ones seem to be when there are updates that need to be downloaded |
