The three starting classes we have currently are fine, but there needs to be more.
Probably the most important one to get (at least to me) is some sort of pilot starting class. Skilling into vehicles, I found it to be a considerable hump of skill points just to get my foot in the door.
I think it might be a good idea to start off pilots with some levels in Vehicle command, turrets and maybe a few vehicle modules and Pilot dropsuit points. Just enough to get started driving around an LAV. (Although I do want to specialize in tank driving, I don't any noobie just starting up the game and summoning a Surya and wrecking faces with it.
While you may argue otherwise, I think everyone who wants to be a vehicle pilot should have plenty of experience in LAVs. I agree that its controls suck, but it really is the foundation of vehicles. LAVs are very vulnerable, rely on teammates to be effective and have niche use. Not to mention that using an LAV is a cakewalk compared to driving an HAV right.
But that's my spiel on the whole "Pilot" class and getting players on the right foot with it. We might also want to have a Logistics class and a Command class. |

There are spots in the market for more dropsuit types, it's probably limited right now because it's still a beta. |

Greetings,
Lilianna Sentinel wrote:The three starting classes Not to pick a nit, but there are NO CLASSES in EVE or Dust... As a player you can have your character specialize in piloting or driving a dropsuit, but it is not a class, it is just one choice out of thousands.

I actually agree that there should be starter sets for each of the main specialties. I would disagree with having HAVs or a command suit in the starter fits, but Dropships, LAVs, Heavies, Logistics, Scouts, Assaults, etc should all be available as starter fits. Militia versions of course.

I would like to see a pilot specialization for beginner's for those who want to specialize in vehicles and aircraft and turret use, I have seen pilot drop suits on the market but wasn't able to get far enough in the weekend beta to really get far in vehicle specialization did a bit of everything, next round I'll be specializing in vehicles full throttle hopefully with some willing players I would like to get a tank or dropship crew going to man all the turrets... |

That's why I use the term "Starting class."
Each starting class, Sentinel, Arbiter and whatever has a set of skills to get started in the player's profession of choice. So I am fully aware and intended to bring your nitpick across in the original post.
I disagree with giving players dropships right off the bat.
"Militia versions of course."
No, Militia stuff has two advantages. One: It requires no skills and two: It doesn't need to be restocked. This allows players to experiment and be flexible if the situation demands.
Instead, we give them enough points to get the basic first level equipment of their chosen profession.

Then I really don't understand what you're asking for. This is the beta, all features are not yet enabled. |

At the start of character creation, you can choose between three starting professions. One for assaults, one for heavies and one for scouts.
I am requesting more of those for people who want to become a dedicated vehicle driver, use a logistics suit or be a commander. The formermost one being the most important in my experience because getting started in paid vehicles takes a loooong time. |

Ahh, I was not clear enough. Yes, give them the skills they need to get the level 1 dropship or level 1 Logistics suit, but they should still start with with Militia gear. This way they can save / earn enough to buy the level 1 gear.
Additonally, as I stated in another thread, I firmly believe that the current version of the Soma should remain in the game for at least a few months after the game launch to help jump start the game. |

Once you get LAVs, it doesn't take very long to transition into Dropships so I think I would want players to at least get some LAV experience before going into Dropships. |

Well I don't know what features will be enabled. That's why I made this thread. |
