If they decide to go that route then the only ones who would get better quarters are the Gallente... The Amarr would put their merc into a cloistre, the Minmatar into a small cell, and the Caldari in a small cube room. No, a better way, IMO, would be for CCP to bite the bullet and finish building out the lounge like in PS @Home and tie that into one of the doors from the Merc quarters and one of the doors from the Captain's quarters.. And for the love of all that is holy, turn on voice comms for everyone in the lounge.
As much as I like the idea of integrating the Merc Quarters with the recruitment area in Playstation Home, I can't wholeheartedly agree with it. The Playstation Home recruitment/lounge area for Dust 514 doesn't seem to be run on or connected with CCP's server cluster, from what I can discern from the stability. It may be an issue entirely on my end, but trying to work Playstation Home is always a futile effort on my part, as it barely ever remains connected.
Dust 514 on the other hand, being run on CCP's servers, displayed stability far exceeding that of Playstation Home's. I can only conclude then that the stability issues lie in the servers being used, and unless CCP can get their recruitment/lounge area running on their servers while remaining somehow connected to Playstation Home's, I think this would only be a poor investment.
That aside, I'd like to see some form of improvements to the Merc Quarters as well, primarily relying on separate rooms connected via the doors, as you note. What these rooms would contain would depend on player demand or more likely, CCP's plans, but personally, I'd be content with a conference room, both for conversing privately with fellow Dust players (upon invitation) and for conversing, through holographic projection, with EVE capsuleers, as well as a star map/planetary map room where you can check out what's going on throughout New Eden, see your corporation's (if you're in one) influence around the various systems through a mixture of displays showing statistics and a holographic table displaying New Eden that you can interact with in much the same way as that in the Neocom.
Either way, improvements for the Merc Quarters are probably planned for much farther in the future, rather than right now. |
