Once the player market is added stockpiling will be important, not every item will be available in all locations, few if any battles will be in Jita 4-4(main trade hub of EvE). The items needed my not be sold near the battle or for many times regular price, dust player will happily pay 5000isk for 480isk grenade if its preventing using there prototype fit.
Not allowing fittings to be changed mid battle would be good, a short cut to restock invalid from respawn screen would keep game moving. Once a player has to buy a 10,000isk standard swarm launcher to kill a dropship they'll keep stocked up.

Apparently, people with playstation vita can buy items with a dust app, so if they remove in game restocking they will have to code it to lockout the vita app too, or vita gives a extra advantage(albeit small, and not needed with proper planning).
I favor removing the ability to alter fitting, but allow restocking on respawn screen. Click invalid fit, window says "this fit is invalid, restocking will cost x isk" hit x button to approve, or go back to pick another fit. Arrows to buy different number, if yearly in match it would save time at next spawn to buy several now. Maybe have a mid-battle restock fee added on, say all items cost extra 10%, this money could go to the corp. They want their members to be ready for battle, so they take a penalty when they need emergency procurement.
For people not familiar with EvE corps(clan/guild). They have a separate wallet from there members, and collect taxes from their members (percentage set by corp leader). this pays for office space, stations, corp assets, ect... The restock penalty could be adjustable by corp leaders, and would go to corp wallet. So, different corps could decide for themselves how bad penalty for not planning ahead will be. Dust will use same system as EvE, since it has been said EvE and Dust players could join mixed corps. CCP's plan may have changed from when I heard this( a year or two ago), or it may not be ready at launch. |
