Let's star by the classes ; yes I know the basics of it but clearly the menu is confusing lets be honest in here it's fps who is going to be competing again MOH , COD, and another sc/fy shooter on the way lets not forget killzone 3 ,, so a menu easier to navigate its not to much to ask ,, the guns handling it's questionable say the scout class ,?? Ever try to aim and place a decent shot without being delay by the awkward aiming animation ,, there is bugs and lets face it ,, those who deny the bugs clearly failed to appreciated a decent FPS , vehicle combat is clunky I wonder if they are aiming for a halo experience or a battlefield 3 handling ,, hope it's the latest .,, their current map needs some more work I know it's a made up planet , but seriously haven't they seem halo maps. Or for odd planet sites or vistas lets say Rachet and clank can give the developers some idea ,, next fall the top of the creme of FPS is coming and a free to play FPS dust needs to take inspiration not copying anything but if Gotham city impostor manage to create a big following community with their micro transactions there is a small chances for dust to grab and create something unique ,, what are the developers looking for ??? Its a mix of eve(MMO) and a normal FPS. Were talking about ccp, this build will not be the final one, expect more updates and gameplay add on over the years. I've played in all those betas which I think weren't really actually betas. You only got in to strength test the servers most of what had to be done was already done. It was more of a glorified demo than an actual beta. This however is 100% an actual beta, Your feedback will be considered and maybe implimented. If you thought this was buggy try build 1.0 it was not even 50% of this current build. |

I tried reading that but couldn't. So I will give the standard answer.
For the last 2 months every day there are numerous threads about how to make dust better by making it like other games. Individuals who mean well list successful games that is should be like. Some of them even give specifics, but most just say dust sucks ass etc
Standard reply:
First
This is FPSMMO which is more similar to borderlands then COD in progression/levling.
Second
There is a 9 year old very successful mmo called eve it will be part of so it has built in design constraints.
Thrid
Give feed back on bugs, game play, etc with the idea how make dust better not making it like other games. If there are things from other games you like list them in the context of what dust is and will be a part of.

There are bugs, that's why the game is in beta. If everything was perfect then there would be no need for a beta. This isn't one of those bullshit "betas" where its mostly for showing off like a demo, this is a real beta where things are seriously still being worked on. If you played through the previous build of the beta, you would see that this build is a major improvement, and that the devs are seriously working hard on it. It bothers me that gamers like you have no patience to learn something that's a bit more complicated then you're use to, and want everything to be dumbed down instead of just putting in a few hours to understand it. The maps are not handcrafted, but computer generated by an algorithm. Want to know why? Its because there are THOUSANDS of planets to play on, and each of them have many large maps to play on.
Why do you hate grammar? I don't have perfect grammar or anything, but I at least try to be understandable. |

I honestly can't read or comprehend what the OP is typing or trying to say.
So I'll just say that, there are certain mechanics and feels that other popular first person shooters have, which DUST could certainly learn from,
eg, the general feel of vehicles and control of movement and interaction.
But the game is a completely different ball game with it's customisation via fitting and large market. Also perma death.
Note that none of the games listed, have little to no consiquences for dying, or losing. In DUST, it's about risking your goods to leverage an advantage. Be it a slight advantage, but those who are willing to try that much harder should be rewarded.
None of the other games listed have that. None |

That wall of text kind of looks like a CO2 scrubber!
More to the content now...
Asking for a better menu system out of CCP will likely get you more /windows/ on screen, which would be difficult to manage on a console ;)
The jerky aim with the scout is an issue if you're trying to be fancy with the class, when you're sniping you should be spending most of your time looking down range through your scope. I fear if they remove it we will have people trying to uitilize it at short to medium ranges, which is not what it is designed for.
Yes, there are bugs, lots of them! It's a beta, we do hope to find all of them before release; help us look, would you?
I am deliberately avoiding vehicle combat, it does not suit my playstyle and there are people out there far more equipped to test the mechanics of it compared to other games - that last thing I drove or flew was a Mosquito in Planetside in 2002 or something like that.
The available maps thus far have seemed to be mostly Barren planets, we have yet to see the brilliant display of the Temperate, Lava or Ice planets.
Reloading speed is affected by a skill on the character sheet, if you're finding it is too slow I would recommend training it to a higher level.
CCP is looking to make something distinct from the list that you provided, I would comment that at the moment the game plays a bit like Battlefield, but I have faith that they'll emerge with a unique identity for DUST 514. |

Greetings,
Ummm, Wow... Where to start;
bebe bubba wrote:Let's star by the classes ; yes I know the basics of it but clearly the menu is confusing lets be honest in here it's fps who is going to be competing again MOH , COD, and another sc/fy shooter on the way lets not forget killzone 3 ,, so a menu easier to navigate its not to much to ask 1, There are no classes in EVE / Dust. If you want to pilot a Heavy suit, learn the skill and jump in a heavy suit. If you want to shoot a Mass Driver, train the skill and shoot a Mass Driver. 2. This game is not attempting to emulate MOH (WTF is that anyway?), CoD, or even Defiance (The Syfy channels video game), instead this is Dust which is part of EVE. Because it is part of EVE it needs to follow some of the same basic rules that EVE follows.
Quote: ,, the guns handling it's questionable say the scout class ,?? Ever try to aim and place a decent shot without being delay by the awkward aiming animation ,, Ummm... WHAT????
Quote:their current map needs some more work I know it's a made up planet , but seriously haven't they seem halo maps. Or for odd planet sites or vistas lets say Rachet and clank can give the developers some idea ,, Again... WHAT???
The current map is only a placeholder. The maps at launch are supposed to be much more dynamic, being built at "initialization time" based on the decisions and choices made by the various parties involved in the battle. As such, they will look nothing like any other game out there. In addition, these battles will be taking place on 1 of the 50+ thousand different planets in the existing EVE universe. You can assume that the maps will look a lot different from anything you have ever seen before.
Quote:next fall the top of the creme of FPS is coming and a free to play FPS dust needs to take inspiration not copying anything but if Gotham city impostor manage to create a big following community with their micro transactions there is a small chances for dust to grab and create something unique ,, So you are telling CCP not to copy others but to copy others. While others disagree with me, they are wrong, but Dust is not an FPS, instead it is an RPG with a FPS style combat system. This is different than any other game on the market. Additionally, Dust is tied into the single largest MMORPG in the history of MMORPGs as well as one of the longest running MMORPGs on the market today. Next, Dust's micro-transaction system will be tied to EVE's micro-transaction system which will allow the economy to be both player and character driven.
Quote:if they listen to the gamer who spend a hard earn cash on their weapon pack to play the beta ,, Ummm.... There are 1000+ of us who have been in the Beta for weeks and, if the numbers I saw this weekend were accurate, another 5000 - 6000 who bought the Mercenary pack... Next, there are hundreds of us each day giving feedback, and many of us provide valuable feedback based on our own experiences, and those feedbacks have generated much needed improvements in the Beta already, so the question becomes... Why should they listen to you over the rest of us? Finally, some of us actually take the time to read the information that is out there, test out different features, and then lay out arguments for why it needs to be different and most importantly how it should be different, we don't say it should be like HALO, or CoD, etc.

I've only been able to skim over a few posts on this topic, but here's my 2 cents:
Dust should not bring in more elements of other games in the genre. It need differences to set itself apart.
While playing the beta, I felt that there is nothing that should be changed regarding the core dynamics of the game.
The Devs have done a great job already.
The problem with most fps games nowadays is that they are all trying to mimic CoD or Halo. Don't get me wrong, those are good games, but when every other lesser shooter game tries to copy the model of those games, everything feels the same and boring (with the notable exception of the Transformers Games by High Moon Studios, though that's partly due to the fact that you can transform ) |

This Game looks like a Combination of Battlefield, Killzone 3. it would make sense if we can reload on the Sprint that would a good concept to tryout. also maybe a prone stance if optional. |

Prone stance I can support, but reloading while running I can't really get behind. It's a trade-off, reloading or moving more quickly. The only way I could see reloading while running is if either it took longer to reload while running or you weren't able to do it until you reached a certain skill level in that weapon type's reload skill. |
